10 Some Truths about Colour Application of Colour Colour is used to generate emotions, define importance and create visual interest and attention. Colour has two basic functions: to activate or to relax. Some colours are warm and active (orange, red), some colours are cool and passive (blue, purple. Colours activate consciously or even unconsciously the human mind. Colours are more powerful compared to forms and words. Contrasts Unique elements in a bouquet design should stand apart from one another. One way to do this is to use contrast. Good contrast in a bouquet can be achieved by using elements like colour, tone, shape, size. Contrast allows the viewer s eye to flow naturally.
