3 Vice President s Report This Vice President offers sincere thanks to my colleagues within our organization who provided support and leadership in developing programs and sourcing speakers. In particular I would like to thank Pat Emanuele for all her work in program development. It can be very challenging to identify meeting venues and speakers who are willing to travel the state. These are a few of the programs we have provided: My Hand Hurts Now What? Healing Foods Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome Update on Irritable Bowel Syndrome Legal Primer for Occupational Health Nurses: 2010 Update Legal Tools for Healthcare and Financial Decisions Before and Following Disability Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: The Forgotten Injury Keeping Your Team Healthy Through the Decades The Education Committee will continue to use Survey results for planning future programs. Respectfully yours, Ann Nascondiglio, MBA, RN, COHN-S 2010 Annual Report, Region 1 It is with great sadness that this past year we lost our Region 1 Director Cathy Dignan to cancer. She was a great source of inspiration too many and we are still grieving her loss. Her smile and laughter will be remembered always with kindness in our hearts. Our Vendor Lady and NJSAOHN member/director/supporter will be missed greatly. We are grateful to Mary McCaughey, RN who has covered the remaining term of Cathy Dignan s tenure and has run for the current Region1 Director position. This past year we partnered again with Region 2 and share all the education event offerings that were taking place in Scotch Plains Snuffy s Steakhouse. This location has been received positively by both regions and has been successful this entire year. There were five education events that were held there and the plans for 2011 will be to share the same format again. We would like to thank our Region Two 3

4 Directors for their continued support and look forward to 2011 and further to more successful education sessions. We would like to let you know that there are plans to have a social networking meeting for June 21 st in Region 1 at the Hanover Marriott on Rt. 10 to celebrate summer more TBA. Thank you for supporting NJSAOHN and if there is anything Region 1 would like to see in the future please we welcome your feedback. Call, or facebook any feedback is good feedback! Respectfully yours, Sandra Cinque, R.N.COHN-s/CM, FAAOHN, Region 1 Director Mary McCaughey, R.N.COHN-s, CCM, Region 1 Director 2010 Annual Report, Region 2 Throughout this year, our educational offerings have been held at Snuffy s Steakhouse on Rt. 22 in Scotch Plains, NJ. Each program has been approved for 2.0 continuing nursing education credits. The year began on 2/4/10 with How to Get a Good Night s Sleep, presented by David Orloff from Somerset Sleep for Life. 63 attended. On 5/6/10, A Legal Primer for OHN s: 2010 Update by Kathleen Gialanella, Esq., 56 attended. A few BOD members met after the June BOD meeting to discuss topics for next year (2011). Anxiety/depression, skin cancer, breast cancer, physical therapy were discussed. It was decided that Snuffy s remains to be a good site for these events and Thursdays are the only time a buffet is offered. Combining Regions 1 and 2 seems to result in good turnouts for these events. An invitation was extended to all regional directors and education chairperson to attend a meeting to review the application process for CNE s. Mary Ganz, Region 2 Director and I met on 6/22. On 8/18/10, a networking social was held at Willie s Tavern in Bedminster from 5:30 on. 10 people responded, but only 6 attended. Publicity for this event was sent out to all members in July and then a reminder was sent out in August. Each person paid for their own food and beverages and all who attended enjoyed the evening. On 10/7/10, Irritable Bowel Syndrome was presented by Dr. C. Gollub and 41 attended. Sandy Cinque informed the group of the recent passing of one of our BOD members, Cathy Dignan, who was currently a Region 1 Director. On 11/14/10, Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome was presented by Mary Finckenor, R.D., and 27 attended. 4
