Prehistoric Southwest Archaeology Field School July August 2004 Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, Cortez, CO High school field school including instruction in archaeological lab methods and excavation of the prehistoric Albert Porter Pueblo site. Research on Bone and Antler Artifacts of the Ferndale Site (45WH34) October 2007 April 2008 Chronological study of bone and antler harpoon points and pendants from a prehistoric (St. Mungo phase) site in Whatcom County, WA. Co-researcher with Jennifer Muus. Lab Assistantship: Northwest Coast Archaeology September March 2007 Assistant in WWU Archaeology Lab including the organization of visual resources for archaeology classes, artifact identification, bulk soil and shell sample processing and lab organization. Three-Dimensional Modeling of the Ferndale Archaeological Site March 2009 June 2009 Creation of three-dimensional model of soil profiles at a prehistoric (St. Mungo period) archaeological site in Whatcom County, WA using ArcGIS, Adobe Photoshop, and Google SketchUp software. GIS and Remote Sensing in Archaeology Field School June - August 2008 Arizona State University and the Center for American Archeology, Kampsville, IL Training in geophysical survey, processing, analysis and ground truthing of data collected in the field. Survey using magnetic gradiometry, electrical resistance and ground-penetrating radar. Individual project used GIS to examine archaeological and geophysical remote sensing data for analysis of the prehistoric (Middle Woodland to Mississippian phase) Mound House site. Supervised by Dr. Gregory Vogel and Dr. Kenneth Kvamme. Public Outreach Experience Community Archaeology Program for Teens June 2012 Public Archaeology Facility Instructor of 5-day public education program for teens ages Building Community through Archaeology project March 2008 June 2009 Effort to involve a local indigenous community, the Lummi Nation, in archaeology conducted at WWU. Included submitting proposals to the Lummi Culture Commission and the WWU Institutional Review Board, conducting a meeting between Lummi elders and archaeology students, and first-authoring publication of preliminary results (postponed).
