2 Rusada envision MRO IT Systems and Heavy Maintenance Checks Overview The Rusada Envision solution has become a benchmark within the aviation industry, offering aircraft operators, OEMs, MROs and other service organisations an automated asset management capability, enabling them to manage all the operational divisions of their business through a single, integrated solution. The Configuration and Resource Manager is at the heart of the solution and is modelled around the data of the aircraft, acting as the `central brain`, automating the processes and workflow involved in fleet or asset management. Each business process is integrated using the same data, driving all the key decisions within an organisation. Enabling seamless collaboration and data sharing between OEM, Operator, MRO or other service organisation, Envision delivers efficiencies and cost reductions that are vital to the future of the airline industry. Benefits for MROs of employing envision For MROs (and service organisations) efficient planning and co-ordination of all aspects of the maintenance and repair operation is critical. Synchronising planned and unplanned maintenance, managing inventory and logistics, tracking quality and technical records, as well as time and attendance and financial management, is complex and labour intensive without an integrated support system. Adding the complexity of resolving internal conflicts over data integrity between departments and systems adds to potential inefficiencies errors. Ensuring one point of entry and common data usage significantly improves both efficiency and safety, enabling organisations to maintain compliance and drive profitability. The Envision Configuration and Resource Manager integrates with the module managers for main business divisions, and is designed to integrate and co-ordinate each stage and function within the MRO service process. This combined ability specifically with modules such as Fleet Manager, cover all scheduled inspections, out-of-phase requirements, unscheduled rectifications, and the on-going maintenance of technical records required to obtain renewal of Certificates of Airworthiness. This is particularly relevant to MROs also looking to offer CAMO capability as they extend their service offering. Flexible and scalable, Envision has the capability to manage in-house fleet and/or third party fleets comprising single or multiple aircraft types. It can handle high volume low cost repair items through to highly complex projects, such as aircraft major checks or engine overhaul.

The modular structure of Rusada Envision means that all seven Manager modules integrate with each other with only one central data repository, making it possible for a MRO (or other aviation organisation) to build the system around individual needs, switching on those Managers required by the business. Focussing specifically on the management of aircraft checks and shop floor maintenance activities, the following is a closer look at the Maintenance Manager. Maintenance Manager Maintenance Manager enables the planning of work and its subsequent performance and monitoring. It employs sophisticated tools for the visualisation of planning and the use of forecasting for work order creation, as well as the ability to incorporate resource usage information when coupled with the Configuration and Resource Manager and requisitioning information when coupled with the Materials Manager. By combining multiple streams of information, effective capacity planning can be performed. Coupling this to time and attendance and shop floor data capture key core functionalities packaged with Envision, enables accurate analysis of performance and significantly improves efficiencies. Coupled with workorder status reporting that highlights work overruns, unapproved work and monitors requisition status, supervisors and managers alike are able to maintain an overview of performance to date.

4 Using the Status tab, clicking on buttons displays relevant detail. The buttons are colour coded so that items requiring attention are immediately visible, minimising the time wading through data that is already satisfied by internal measurement parameters. Spend time more productively addressing those items affecting profitability or those that impact completion. Check if tasks with no estimates particularly relevant to third party work have been approved. See tasks closed with overrun hours relevant to third party work but also important for internal auditing for future task costing. Review tasks closed with open requisitions drill down to the task, see why and how was it closed, see where the parts are and examine the reasons behind the requisition. See if the task was deferred, so that the part can be transferred to another location for onwards rectification or, if it was closed you know you have a loan part coming in costing you time and money.

Examine how the progress of defects has followed the progress of the check, know when it was reported that all inspections were completed, and see if there were there still significant numbers of defects being raised days afterwards. 6 Representation of work order accomplishment The Envision system can be used to plan maintenance work. Envision has a field against each task called Planning Code. Companies use this code to group similar work together and provide a reporting function that can report on the total estimates and all expenditure against these groups. The capacity planning function looks at trade manpower requirements per work order and plots that against resource availability at the trade level.

(some data has been blanked out to protect customer confidentiality) The capacity plan has the ability to consider the inclusion of quoted but not approved work, and annual leave requested but not approved. The chart can be filtered to single or multiple bases as well as multiple trade selections. Individual work orders can be accessed directly from this chart and timelines stretched or compressed, and work orders can be altered or moved to re-calculate the resource plan.

9 Regarding low level task sequencing, we have researched the market place, reviewed past functionality and drawn on the experiences of our own staff, resulting in our belief that the requirement to plan individual task sequencing is far too detailed for daily use, requiring a significant effort from planners to establish the base-line relationships in the first place. It is also usual for some of these relationships to be completely inappropriate when tasks are called up on different checks. The result would be broken links and ineffective plans. Moreover, these plans would soon be out of date once the defect activity started. Requiring already busy engineers to code the sequencing of defects just would not happen in practice. Future development for the Maintenance Manager is focused on: The ability to define sequencing relationships between groups or similar tasks The ability to save the related template, so templates can differ between visit types The ability to automate the code of a non-routine task dependent upon the originating task (this reduces the need for engineers to remember to select a code and also drives the audit of determining the origin of a defect) The ability to define team strength in order to determine group duration Graphical representation of the plan Ability to roll up the plan to a summary and display multiple work-orders Ability to review resource allocation at trade level or skill level Develop screens and reports that define when the resources, materials and tools associated with the tasks grouped under each phase will be required. Summary: In summary, Envision provides a full toolset for the visualisation and planning of activities on the shop floor.
