6 3-Tiered Licensure System Licensure assures that the educator has the credentials required to work as an administrator in the state, and, the license must be renewed Initial Continuing Advanced Certification assures that the educators has the skills & knowledge in the areas they will work Assistant Principal/Principal School Leader I School Leader II
7 Tiers Initial License 3 years Pass PRAXIS I & II Graduated from a regional accredited program approved by state Continuing License- 5 years Principals often come in on a continuing license since they have 3 years of teaching on the beginning license Description Participation in a mentoring program Satisfactory performance appraisals 90-clock hours of approved professional development Satisfactory performance appraisals If the educator moves from teacher to administrator they must participate in a coaching/mentoring program Advanced License --10 years National Board Certification
