Cashpoint card or Visa debit card Choosing the right card Cashpoint card or Visa debit card Cashpoint card If you only need a card to access money at cash machines, our Cashpoint card gives you access to our large and accessible ATM network in the UK and to ATMs abroad. With your Cashpoint card you can withdraw up to 200 a day from a Lloyds Bank Cashpoint machine free of charge or from over 62,000 LINK cash machines (a charge may apply). If there isn t enough money in your account to buy something, the transaction shouldn t go through, as this Visa debit card is designed to make sure you can t spend money you don t have. Visa debit card You can use your Visa debit card in the UK and abroad to make purchases. You can take out up to 500 a day from a Lloyds Bank Cashpoint machine free of charge or from over 62,000 LINK cash machines (a charge may apply). 8 Using your card It s easy to use my new card Discover everyday banking that s simple at home and abroad What s shown on your card 1. Valid from this is the date you can start using your Visa debit card. 2. Expires end you won t be able to use your card after this date but we ll automatically send you a new one before then. 3. Cardholder s name your name will appear here. 4. Card number this is the unique long number across the front of your card. If you have a Visa debit card on the back you ll find seven numbers on the white signature strip where you sign your name. The last three digits of this code are usually needed when you shop online or over the phone. This code is sometimes described as your security code or CVV2 code. Lloyds Bank Visa debit card Lloyds Bank Cashpoint card

Using your card Visa debit card It s easy to make your everyday purchases, whether it s cinema tickets or stationery supplies. However, some transactions, like gambling, may be inappropriate for your age group, so your card will block your purchases in some shops or on some websites that it recognises as being potentially unsuitable. If you want to change your card to one that doesn t have this added protection you can ask for a replacement card in branch when you turn 16. Chip and PIN Chip and PIN is when you enter your PIN into a keypad to buy something. Using it is simple: Insert your Visa debit card into a card reader or PIN pad and check the amount. Enter your PIN and the machine will check it s correct and print you a receipt. On some occasions you ll still need to sign for some of your purchases instead of using chip and PIN. For example when you re travelling abroad. 6

Using your card I m sorted if I travel Using your Visa debit card abroad Visa debit and Cashpoint card customers are able to use ATMs abroad to withdraw cash up to the equivalent of their UK withdrawal limit ( 200 for Cashpoint cardholders, 500 for Visa debit cardholders). Visa debit card customers are also able to pay for things anywhere you see the Visa sign. Using your card abroad is more convenient and safer than carrying lots of cash around, plus you can withdraw local currency from any cash machine that displays the Visa sign. You might want to let us know your travel dates and where you are going so that we know to expect overseas transactions on your account. Visit a branch or call us on If you need to call us from abroad, by mobile or prefer not to use our 0845 number, you can also call us on Charges apply to use your Visa debit card abroad, please see our Banking Charges guide for full information. 7

Remembering your PIN I know all my numbers Remembering your Personal Identification Number (PIN) With your card comes a PIN. When you pay for something in a shop or take out money from a Cashpoint, you will need to type in your PIN. If you find it hard to remember the one we ve given you, then you can change it to one that s more memorable. To change your PIN visit any Lloyds Bank Cashpoint and insert your card and current PIN. Then select PIN services and follow the on-screen instructions. If your card is lost or stolen Your Visa debit card or Cashpoint card is much safer to carry around than cash. But you must report any theft or loss of your card as soon as possible so that we can stop other people from using it. Call into any Lloyds Bank branch, or call the Lloyds Bank 24 hour Lost & Stolen Cards service on in the UK, or from abroad. We will usually send you another card within seven working days. TOP TIP Choose a number that s special to you. It s a good idea to avoid birthdays and repeating the same number. Remember, your PIN is secret. 9

Jargon buster Jargon buster Understand all the words and phrases used when talking about your Under 19s Account Visa debit card A plastic card that can be used instead of cash when making a purchase or withdrawing money from an ATM. The amount spent is taken (debited) automatically from your account. The Under 19s Lloyds Bank Visa debit card does not come with an overdraft facility. Cashpoint card A cash card allows you to draw money from cash machines (ATMs). Many banks set a daily limit as to how much you can take out, even if your account contains funds. LINK cash machines LINK is a UK network of cash machines. You can use your Visa debit or Cashpoint card to take out money from cash machines where you see the LINK sign. Credit If your account is in credit, it means that you have money available to spend. When money goes into your account this is known as being credited. Interest If you save money, you can often receive interest from the bank on the money you save. 23

Jargon buster ATM An Automated Teller Machine (ATM) is a cash dispensing machine (or hole in the wall ), which you find in many places including banks, shopping centres and railway stations. In order to be able to use an ATM you need a Cashpoint or Visa debit card and a Personal Identification Number (PIN). There is often a limit per day on your withdrawals. And some ATMs both in the UK and abroad may charge you for withdrawing money see our Banking Charges guide for more information on our fees. Debit Money which is taken out of an account is debited from that account. When your account goes into debit it means you do not have money available to spend. Balance Is the amount of money you have in your bank or other account at any time (or the amount you owe on your credit or store card). It will be shown on your statement.
