10 Teaching In the past 12 years, I have taught a variety of courses in the BA and MA programs of the department of Public Administration, Leiden University. Even though I was on research contracts for most of that time, I participated in the program by designing and teaching graduate seminars, mentoring freshmen (three years in a row), running working groups, and acting as thesis advisor to more than 50 MPA students. I designed new courses on institutional design, crisis management, leadership, and the quality of the Dutch criminal justice sector. I designed and ran three research projects for honor students, which resulted in joint publications: Institutional Crises (see Boin, Otten and Kuipers, 2000), The Institutionalization of Young Public Organizations (Boin, Kuipers and Steenbergen, in progress), and EU Crisis Management (in progress). In addition, I have designed and taught a great number of modules/courses in and for public and private organizations (see below). A more detailed list can be provided upon request.
