2 Early Brain Development The brain is the only organ that is not fully formed at birth During the first 3 years, trillions of connections between brain cells are being made A child s relationships and experiences during the early years greatly influence how the brain grows

4 Health and Development Services Project Six Regional Services Network Leads provide or sub-contact for the following services: Services for children 0-12 months Newborn Medical Home Visiting Home Visitation Services for At Risk Families Services for children 15 months 5 years* Parent Support & Empowerment Developmental Screenings, Assessment & Treatment Vision & Hearing Screenings, Referral & Treatment Speech & Language Services Behavioral Health Services Health & Behavioral Consultation Services for Early Child Care Providers (ECP) *These services are targeted to children at greatest need The services provided must not supplant existing services

9 Countywide Coordination and Support Awarded through Competitive Bid Process The local chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) AAP is a national organization of pediatricians dedicated to the health, safety and well-being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults. AAP - CA3 Chapter is the local chapter and has almost 500 active members.
