9 Setting up of Computer Clubs on a Regional Basis Objectives To democratise access to ICT and provide free access to broadband Internet Helps in removing the barriers to bridge the Digital Divide through democratised access for the whole community Promote ICT for the social, economic and personal development of the community 9

10 Free Internet Access Computer Clubs are equipped with 3 NetPCs and free access to broadband Internet. 264 Computer Clubs have been set up on a regional basis across Mauritius in Youth Centres, Women Centres, Social Welfare Centres, Community Centres, Day Care Centres, Village Halls, Municipal Centres and NGOs. 10

15 Learning Corners Mauritius Each Learning Corner is equipped with three computers and free Internet access. 2 Learning Corners have been set up in: Providence VH Fond du Sac VH Future Plans: 16 additional Learning Corners will be set up around the island. An IT Assistant will be available at each Learning Corner to provide guidance to users. 15

16 Public Internet Access Points (PIAPs) Accelerated access to ICT infrastructure and Internet penetration by set up of: 95 PIAPs in Mauritius 5 PIAPs in Rodrigues Number of users: 197,025 16
