4 SYNOPSIS Isi (27) is stucked in a quater-life-crisis. With a graphic diploma in one hand and a drink in the other, Isi is stucked in a strange place inbetween univeristiy and real life. This place would seem bleak and lonely, if her very best friend Lotte wasn t there with here. But that changes abruptly when Lotte not only finds a real job but also falls in love with her colleague Leo, effectively ending their live as a twosome. One second later Lotte is a vegan grown up and Isi s live is turning backwards. She has to move into a filthy flat-share despairing over the antics of her musician flatmate Klausi and the slightlithy crazy medical student Daniel. While Isi is working on a Graphic Novel from Scott Fitzgeralds The Beautiful and Damned, she starts to realize, that adulthood has arrived, like a runaway train, and there s no getting out of its way. 9 ABOUT THE DIRECTOR Finished her studies at the University of Television and Film Munich in Received several scholarships and prizes for producing and building up her company cocofilms. Producer and director of several short films, documentaries and commercials. Her documentary The safest nuclear power plant worldwide has been screened at over 40 festivals (Germany shorts in Cannes, London, Paris ). Her short film WILLA after a Stephen King short Story has been screened at 45 Festivals (Palm Springs Short Fest, L.A. Shorts ). Nomination for best german short film in 2012, several nomination and awards as best director. 10 DIRECTOR S NOTE The future is just like the present but even more fucked up. One day I woke up and though: fuck, I m in my late twenties. It felt like a hugh hangover. It was the moment I ve realized that all my friends have started with their lifes except for me. I was still the art-something-student that was living from the student job and hanging around in film school. They were getting married, moved in pretty apartments, I wasn t able to afford, threw out their IKEA-furnuter and replaced it with new, fancy shit. And guess what, there are even babys involved. There it was. The grown-up-life everybody was talking about. Except for me: I didn t want anything to change. The only thing I was eger for, was to turn my art-studentjob in something real. Getting out of filmschool and tell stories. Proofing to people that not only being a doctor is a real job. I ve named the main character Isi, which is pronounced Easy in German. But in her life nothing is easy. Kind of ironic. Kind of how it is. When I ve found out, that the Generation in the 1920ies was called lost generation I loved it. It felt like history was repeating itself in a way. In our story, Isi is drawing a Graphic Novel to F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Beautiful and Damned, which tells about a couple in the lost generation. It is amazing how the quotes of Fitzgerald fit our generation. I was wondering, how people in 2120 are going to be called. Lost Generation Generation Y Generation happy? After all, 30 is the new 20, and the world was supposed to end in 2012, wasn t it? You really can t rely on anything these days. 11 ABOUT THE PRODUCERS fimschaft maas & füllmich was founded in Its aim is to establish itself as a young and dynamic lm production company. Since the beginning its focus has been on the production of sophisticated graduation films and debut features which run successfully on the festival circuit and are shown in the cinema and/or on television. The collaboration with both committed young filmmakers and established film professionals of different backgrounds who share our aims and objectives, are key to ensuring the high quality we aspire to. For the future, the priority is to consolidate our work to date in the German and European lm and television industries. We aim to do this by focusing on narrative features with popular appeal.
