Please bear in mind that 2 or 3 Unsatisfactory lab/skills/clinical, performances could be received in one day. *** 20 hrs. of Lab Practice outside of class time is required, 2 students at a time may schedule for a lab with a tutor in the IVC NLC you MUST SIGN in the NLC Computer! It is required that you take complete CPR during this class even if you already have a current CPR card. CPR Testing are part of State of California CNA Module Curriculum for Emergency Procedures and is a REQUIREMENT prior to the Clinical Rotation. It will be on a March13th, , Instructor will be: Steve Holt Paramedic. The American Heart Association ( AHA ) CPR Book ( Health Care Provider ) Masks are the IVC Campus Bookstore CPR CARD is $5.00 paid to your instructor. 6
7 Attendance: A student who fails to attend the first meeting of class may be dropped by the instructor immediately following the class. Should readmission be desired, the student s status will be the same as that of any other student who desires to add a class. Regular attendance in all classes is expected of all students enrolled. Instructors are expected to take a student s attendance record into account in computing grades. A student may be excluded from further attendance in a class during any semester when absences after the close of registration have exceeded the number of class hours which the class meets per week. Further, an instructor may drop any student judged to be disturbing element in the class. A student who is TARDY ( 02) TIMES may be considered as having been absent once. ( 02 tardies= 01 absence) All students MUST SIGN IN as they come into class and PLACE ENTRY TIME by their name each day, EVEN in the Clinical Rotation! Failure to Sign IN may result in the student being marked absent by the instructor. 8 Course Description: This course will prepare the Health Assistant for Certification by the State of California as an entry-level worker on a Health Care Team in a Long-Term Care Facility. The course is structured to provide theory and practical applications of skills needed to function as a Nurse Assistant. This course will follow the Model Curriculum for Nurse Assistants set forth by the Chancellor s Office, California Community Colleges Sacramento, California.
