Contributions from all of these groups were essential to the education of the students whose accomplishments we celebrate this evening. 5 Donald F. Wright Donald F. Wright is executive vice president of Times Mirror, and president and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles Times, with overall responsibility for the newspaper's day-to-day management. Mr. Wright has held The Times post since 1997, and was appointed executive vice president in He will become chairman of The Times when Kathryn Downing assumes the position of president and chief executive officer of the newspaper. Mr. Wright has held a variety of senior management positions at Times Mirror during his 20-year career with the company. He previously served as senior vice president responsible for the company's broadcast, cable TV and Eastern newspapers from 1987 to Mr. Wright was president and chief operating officer of the Los Angeles Times from 1982 through Prior to that, he served as president and chief operating officer of Newsday from 1978 through 1982, and was executive vice president and general manager of the paper from 1977 to Before joining Times Mirror, Mr. Wright was at the Minneapolis Star and Tribune Company from 1957 to 1977, where he held positions including executive editor of the Minneapolis Star, operations director, research planning director, assistant production director and production engineer. Mr. Wright has served as chairman for both the Telecommunications and the Production Management Committees of the Newspaper Association of America. He is a former member of the American Society of Newspaper Editors and a former director of the United Way of Long Island and the California Newspaper Publishers Association. Mr. Wright is president of the Western Region Boy Scouts of America and former president of Area IV of the Region, as well as a vice chairman and former chairman of the Los Angeles Area Council Boy Scouts of America. He has served as a member of the board of trustees of the Claremont Graduate School and University Center. He is director Emeritus of the Associates of the California Institute of Technology, and a director and senior vice president of the University of Minnesota Foundation. He is a member of the boards of the Hartford Courant Foundation, The Times Mirror Foundation, the Pfaffinger Foundation and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Wright earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota. He also attended Macalester College in Minnesota.

17 Graduation Photographs For your convenience, we have made arrangements with professional photographers to take a picture of each student as they cross the stage. This service will enable each student to have a photograph of their graduation. Family members and friends are encouraged to remain in their seats and enjoy the ceremony. However, photographs may be taken from the orchestra pit. Please do not block the ramp or the aisles. The graduates will need to proceed down the ramp and back to their seats in a timely manner. Thank you. Degrees in the Institute of Technology are awarded with two types of honors. Degrees with distinction and high distinction are awarded automatically to students with Grade Point Averages exceeding 3.5 and 3.8, respectively. The, magna, and summa degrees are awarded upon application to students who meet certain Grade Point Average requirements and complete special work within the major. Students receiving the summa degrees have completed a senior thesis. This is not an official University of Minnesota Graduation list
