6 Enrollment This section includes current enrollment and enrollment trend. Current enrollment shows UNCSA fall 2014 college headcount enrollment and FTE by school, level, and residency (Table 1 and Figure 1). It also includes the headcount enrollment by level, residency, gender, and fulltime or part-time status of the college students at UNCSA (Table 2). The in-state headcount enrollment by county and out-of-state enrollment by state and region is shown in Tables 3a-b and Figure 3. Table 4 shows current headcount enrollment by school, level, gender and residency. The racial composition of college enrollment is shown in Table 5 and Figure 5. Enrollment trend data include college headcount enrollment by field of study for the past ten years, fall 2005 through fall 2014 (Table 6 and Figure 6). The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) reclassified the race/ethnicity categories in Thus, the trend data on racial composition of UNCSA college enrollment started from fall 2009 (Table 7 and Figure 7). Table 8 shows the historical headcount enrollment from fall 1966 to fall

16 Retention and Graduation The retention and graduation measures are set by the US Department of Education and are collected by Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). These measures focus on the first-time fulltime (FTFT) freshmen entering an institution in fall semesters. As an UNC institution, the retention and graduation rates of FTFT freshmen are not only tracked within their home institution (UNCSA in our case) but also in the whole UNC system. Table 9 shows the retention and graduation rates of FTFT freshmen at UNCSA and in UNC System. About 3,400 U.S. colleges and universities participate in National Student Clearinghouse (NSC). UNCSA is one of them. Thus, we are now able to track students who initially started at UNCSA, but transferred to and graduated from other institutions nationwide through NSC. Data in Table 10 show that our FTFT freshmen had high success and progress rates while tracking among all the NSC participating institutions in the country. Please note that the NSC tracks the cohort at the end of the fall semester while IPEDS tracks the cohort at the beginning or the census date of the fall semester. 12

21 Admissions UNCSA has attracted talented young artists with good academic standings from many states in the country and from the globe. Majority of our fall 2014 first-time freshmen (80%) were in top half of their high school graduating class and 45% were in top quarter of high school graduating class. The average SAT scores of our first-time freshmen have been consistently above the UNC system average (Table 13). The trend of our first-time freshmen average SAT scores is shown in Figure 9. Table 14 shows the distribution and quartile of the SAT scores. UNCSA has selected talented young artists to our programs and kept the enrollment growth at the same time. Table 15 shows the number of freshman, transfer, and graduate applicants, acceptances, and enrollees by residency and gender for the past five years. The percent of acceptances over applicants and the percent of enrollees over acceptances are provided for each group. Table 13.
