COURSE BROWSER/2008 COURSE LISTING Admissions is currently preparing the 2008 course listing which will be finalised by mid- August APPLICATIONS Admissions will commence uploading applications for 2008 from Monday 30 July. All applications will be uploaded with 2008 admit terms. Should any of these applicants wish to commence study in either Spring terms, Admissions will amend the Banner admit term accordingly. Applicants will receive their acknowledgement , and be requested to submit their supporting documentation; however, final assessment and application decisions will not occur until approximately mid/late August when the course listing for 2008 is finalised. All Schools need to ensure that they advise Systems (systems@acu.edu.au) of the names of the staff assigned to units every semester. TUTORIAL DIRECT Forced sorts were carried out on Thursday 19, Sunday 22, Tuesday 24 and Thursday 26 July. Forced sorts DO NOT re-allocate students who have already received an allocation (either by the preference sort or by self allocation). The only reason a student will have received a reallocation is due to changes that have been made to the timetable at the request of their School COURSE AND CAMPUS FILES Systems are currently working on the course and campus files for These files will be submitted to DEST by 1 August. 4 WORK REQUESTS A reminder that only urgent and necessary work requests will be forwarded to MIS for action. This is due to the commitment of MIS resources to the Banner 7 Upgrade Project allowing only very limited resources for maintenance. Systems requests There are two methods of contacting the Student Systems team: 1. HEAT helpdesk for ALL requests regarding access to Banner and Student Connect. This includes access requests for new users, change of Banner security profiles (eg user requires access to a new Banner form), and any difficulties in initial access to these Systems (eg Faculty user has misplaced Student Connect User ID and/or PIN). The users will click on the HELP button in Lotus Notes (don t just send to helpdesk as this does not load the call to HEAT) and send their request details to the Helpdesk this will then be logged to Systems. This will allow monitoring of calls and enable Systems to provide analysis of these requests; (Please note that the HEAT helpdesk system is being reviewed and replacement software being evaluated so this may change soon advice will be provided in that case) 2. systems@acu.edu.au address for Tutorial Direct issues and all other Banner requests, such as unit/crn creation, quota issues, advice on system functionality, investigation of specific problems etc. In general, the more complex or detailed issues should continue to be forwarded to the systems@acu.edu.au address, while the access issues are to be forwarded to the HEAT helpdesk. Tutorial Direct All Tutorial Direct queries regarding buffers, students not allocated to classes or LIC issues are to be ed to the Student Systems account: systems@acu.edu.au Final sorts have been done, identifying any student who hadn t been allocated to a class. Tutorial Direct closes on Monday 6 August. Schools are reminded that changes to the final timetable impact on students Tutorial Direct allocations. RESULTS A number of errors have been identified in results submitted for Semester LICs of affected units will receive an from studentresults@acu.edu.au requesting their assistance to rectify these errors. Outstanding Semester Results The table below identifies results outstanding as at 1pm on Tuesday 24 July. The figures outside brackets represent the number of units with results outstanding. The figure in brackets indicates the number of students affected. ALL results were due to be provided to Student Centres or entered online by Friday 6 July. Schools should be aware that delay in providing results seriously impacts on data entry and may therefore impact on the process of course completion, course transfers and course admission for students. 6 STAFF Lauren has resigned from ACU to return to NSW. She has accepted a position at the University of Western Sydney in a Faculty timetabling role. Her last day at work will be Friday 3 August. Aileen will step into the Team Leader (acting) role from Thursday 9 August, and arrangements regarding Aileen s replacement will be advised shortly. Aileen will be on leave Friday 27 July and Monday 30 July. Debbie will return from leave on Monday 30 July. Ty will be on leave Friday 3 August and Monday 6 August.
