7 Equipment Provided at fields RB & RLC gear in marked plastic containers (Youth and Adult) NM, KL, KM gear in bags stored in the lock boxes Other fields Responsibility of coach to bring gear Safety Requirements Shin guards, chest protector, Mask or hockey style helmet with dangling throat guard, Cup (males) If you don t have ALL this equipment, DO NOT get behind the plate, this means NO CUP = NO UMPIRING behind the plate (call game from behind the mound). Other Requirements - Umpire Indicator, Plate Brush, Stop Watch, Umpire Hat (base umpires).

8 Have Pride Dress Appropriately & Look Sharp No Shorts Levi s, denim or slacks (No carpenter type pants) Wear Chest Protector Underneath your Shirt Base Umpire to wear issued umpires hat Keep your hands out of your pockets Conduct yourself professionally Remember: This is a job that you are being paid to do!

9 Web Based Umpire Scheduling Software Web based scheduling tool - TBA Link will be on Kentll.org - Umpires You must Register on this Web based program We are using a new system ALL umpires, new and previous, must register Umpire make requests - Scheduler or UIC approves Always use your first and last name that you Register with Example Joe Smith Always type it the same NOT Joseph Smith Umpires receive confirmation of approvals via DO NOT hog the schedule! You may have your password revoked! Only sign up for two games at a time. Check back after two days to sign up for more We will strive to make things as reasonably fair as we can

10 Umpire Ratings Level 1 AA, FPminors Level 2 AAA, FPMajors Level 3 BBMajors, FPJuniors Level 4 - BBJuniors Level 5 - BBSeniors Each Umpire will have 2 ratings - One for Plate - One for Bases Example Good Umpire has a 3 / 4 rating - This umpire can work games up to Majors at the plate and up to Juniors on the bases New Umpire has a 1 / 1 rating - This umpire can work only AA or FPminors games at the plate and on the bases

11 **2015 Umpire Compensation Scale** Base Pay AA, AAA, & FP Minors Plate - $18.00 Bases - $15.00 BB and FP Majors Bases - $20.00 * Jr / Sr Baseball Bases $30.00 * Jr / Sr Fastpitch Plate - $35.00 Bases $30.00 Add-ons ($6.00 Maximum) In addition to base pay the following amounts are added as applicable: Experience - $0.50 per year begins in your second year Training Kent LL - $0.25 per session attended in current year District 10 - $5.00 (Day long Clinic) attended in current year Solo - $5.00 Concession Entitlement (Hot dog, chips and drink) *Plate worked by Umpires NW Rainout $5.00 If Managers deem field unplayable prior to game start - Umpire must have showed up at assigned field Suspended or Terminated game after first pitch Pro-rated per innings played No Notice of Game Cancellation $5.00 Umpire must have showed up at assigned field **Only umpires ages will be compensated for umpiring Kent Little League games. Adult umpires are volunteers year old umpires must be attending school full-time in order to qualify for compensation

14 Game Must Do s Arrive at game 30 minutes prior to game start time Get yourself prepared Put on gear as soon as possible Conduct pre-game meeting Explain field boundaries, etc. Introduce your selves & have your name recorded in the Home Scorebook Conduct yourself professionally Keep your hands out of your pockets No chatting with friends between innings (there is no longer time for this because of the 2 minute rule) Keep the Home Plate clean Brush plate off between every ½ inning (more if necessary) Fill out Game Report RB and RLC only (Snack Shack)

15 When to call UIC / Scheduler Cannot make or late to assigned game If 24 hours or more prior call or Umpire Scheduler If within 24 hours call or text Umpire Scheduler Scheduler will call you if the game is rained out/cancelled Coaches will call once they decide it s been cancelled. If you do not hear from the scheduler, assume the game is still scheduled - do not call If the game was cancelled and you show up, you still get $5.00 If there is an issue or conflict with a manager/coach Call Herm If there was an ejection, a short report is needed for the league.
