1 Kernersville Little League (KLL) Congratulates and welcomes your team to the North Carolina year old State Tournament At Kernersville Little League Kernersville, NC July 12 July 18, 2014 On behalf of Kernersville Little League we would like to welcome you and make your visit to Kernersville as enjoyable as possible. We have provided this information package to offer you suggestions relative to hotels and other places of interest during your visit to Kernersville. We have also included information regarding our complex to become acquainted with the field locations, parking, directions, etc. Contact numbers for various administrators for this tournament are also provided to offer assistance at any time. Please do not hesitate to contact us throughout the week to assist with any questions you may have regarding your visit to Kernersville. 2 Kernersville Little League History Kernersville Little League was formed in 1961 by a group of devoted citizens and is celebrating our 54 th season as a chartered Little League. Playing on whatever fields were available at the time, KLL won its first state title in 1971 with a team which included former retired Kernersville Chief of Police and current Town Alderman, Neil Stockton. This would be the first of 21 state baseball and softball titles to go along with 47 district titles, highlighted by our 1989 Senior Baseball team participating in the Senior Division World Series. This team included former Wake Forest quarterback and member of the 1998 NBA champion Chicago Bulls, Rusty Larue. About this time, work was coming to an end building the current park on land that was donated by the Swaim family. Two Little League fields, a softball field, and 2 regulation baseball fields were built on the original property along with a building to house a garage, concession stand and board room, two t-ball fields would be added later. About ten years later, additional property would be bought and two additional Little League fields would be added adjacent to the existing property as well as one of the original fields that KLL played on in its early days. This land is now our Sahabi practice facility located about 5 miles from the main Swaim complex. Today, KLL has an enrollment of nearly 500 participants for our 2014 spring baseball and softball programs. KLL is proud of our history and look forward to continued growth, history and growth that could not have been accomplished without all the hard work and commitment of a tremendous amount of volunteers throughout the past 54 years.

3 Kernersville Little League Complex Kernersville Little League Swaim Complex 9217 County Line Road Kernersville, NC Directions: (From Greensboro / Eastern North Carolina) Take I-40 East towards/through Greensboro and take exit 208. Turn right onto Sandy Ridge Road and proceed until you must turn onto W Market St Turn Left onto West Market Street and drive 1.7 miles. Turn Right onto Crosscreek Road and drive until road dead ends. Turn Left onto County Line Rd and the complex is 0.1 miles on Right. (From Winston-Salem/Western North Carolina) Take Business 40 to Exit 15 (NC 66). Turn Left onto NC 66 and drive 0.8 miles to Main St. Turn right and stay in Right Lane onto NC 150. Drive 1.8 miles and turn Right onto County Line Rd. Drive 0.9 miles to Swaim Complex on Right Parking: There is ample parking at the complex. Parking is free. Field: All tournament games will be played Crutchfield Field. Crutchfield is the field that is straight ahead as you enter the complex, just past the concessions building. Crutchfield is a natural grass field with grass infield. There are bleachers for use on both the first and third base lines of the field. There is also plenty of space for lawn chairs along the base lines, and in the outfield. There are three other fields nearly identical to Crutchfield that are available for warm up or practice fields and batting cages are also available.

4 Concession Stand: Our concession stand will be open and will offer a full array of drinks, food and snacks. The concession stand has a grill, and offers hotdogs, hamburgers, barbeque sandwiches, and other hot meal items. We have full bathrooms on either side of the concession stand building as well as bathroom facilities near the batting cages. Outside coolers may be brought inside the complex. Game Preparation: The complex offers ample preparation space. We offer 5 batting cages, multiple pitching warm up areas, soft toss nets, and practice field space. Each team will be afforded appropriate practice space starting 90 minutes prior to game time. Additional practice time may be reserved by contacting the tournament directors. 5 Complex Rules and Regulations: We ask that all participants; coaches, fans, and parents adhere to all the rules of KLL to make the complex and tournament an enjoyable and safe place for children to play. Please use the trashcans provided. We ask that all teams clean out their dugout and bleachers after each game. Smoking is prohibited around ALL fields, dugouts, seating areas and batting cages. Smoking is allowed in our parking areas. No alcohol or drugs. No pets are allowed in the park. No foul or abusive language will be tolerated We ask that parents and fans encourage both teams and refrain from taunts towards the players or umpires. No artificial noisemakers are allowed. No bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, wheeled shoes, scooters, etc. are permitted inside the complex Additional Information: There will be a mandatory Team Managers meeting on Saturday, July 12 st at 10:00am at the complex shelter by the concession stand. In addition, the Tournament Director will meet with both team managers one hour before each game for the coin toss. All equipment will be checked. Make sure cracked batting helmets are replaced, throat guards are on catcher s mask, and bats are in compliance with Little League Requirements, etc. See your Little League Rule Book if there are questions.

There are home games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night of the State Tournament. BB&T Ballpark is in its fifth year of operation, and has been recognized as one of the best ballparks in the nation. It is a great venue, and worth the visit!
