1 TAC I/NETTM Intrusion Alarm System The TAC I/NET intrusion alarm system (IAS) consists of a mix of security control products that can be combined and configured to provide intruder detection and alarm functions. 2 02 Features Product AT A GLANCE The IAS supports the connection of up to 144 intrusion detection sensors. Sensors can be grouped in up to 24 zones that can be set and unset independently. The system also supports up to 24,000 users and up to four assignable user access levels. 3 03 IAS Controllers The IAS utilizes the following controllers and supporting devices: 7798c The 7798c supports the sublan connection of up to four remote arming terminals and all SCU1200-series controllers in the base unit and expander unit. An RS232 port allows connection of a service PC or IP dialer. This device contains the programming necessary to control the IAS. SCU1200-series controllers The IAS can consist of up to 13 SCU1200-series controllers, independently of which enclosures are used or how they are configured. - SCU1200 controllers Each SCU1200 has the capability to monitor and supervise 12 discrete inputs. - SCU1280 controllers Each SCU1280 has the capability to monitor 12 discrete inputs and provide control of eight relay outputs for direct control of field devices (warning devices, PIR LEDs, indicators, etc.). SCUEXP1 expansion board An SCUEXP1 expansion board installed at reader port 4 on the SCU accepts +12V power from the SCU s onboard power supply and auxiliary power from a battery. It monitors power to provide fault detection. The expansion board can distribute +12V power to other devices. It can also supply +24V power for up to 2 TAC OP5 terminals. IP dialer The IP dialer is used to automatically communicate IAS events with an alarm receiving center. Power and backup storage devices - XFMR7 transformer - 12AH 12 V storage device (i.e., battery) Intruder Control Panels Three types of intruder control panels are available for the IAS system: ICPB Base Unit (required) The base unit provides the main IAS functions. A dialer in the base unit allows the IAS to communicate with an alarm receiving center. A fully-configured base unit provides support for up to 48 intrusion detection sensors, four TAC OP5 arming terminals, and 2 warning devices. ICPE Expansion Unit (optional) For larger IAS applications, an optional expansion unit allows you to connect additional external sensors. A fully-configured expansion unit can support up to 96 intrusion detection sensors. TAC OP5 arming terminals can also connect to the expander; however, the system-wide limit of four arming terminals cannot be exceeded. ICPD Distributed Unit (optional) For installations where intrusion detectors may be spread out across long distances, or among separate buildings, one or more distributed units can be used. Each distributed unit supports the connection of up to 12 intruder detection sensors. TAC OP5 arming terminals can also connect to the distributed unit; however, the system-wide limit of four arming terminals cannot be exceeded.

4 04 The Base Unit The IAS base unit contains the controllers and devices that are essential to the IAS. Depending on its configuration, it may also contain optional components to support an expanded IAS application. 7 07 Control and Indicating Equipment The TAC OP5 arming terminal provides users with the ability to interact with the IAS and monitor its status. The IAS can support up to four TAC OP5 arming terminals. LCD Touch Screen The unit s LCD touch screen accepts user inputs and provides feedback. Colored LEDs and a sounder also provide indications of the IAS s status. The controls and indications available to a user through the TAC OP5 arming terminal will depend on the user s access level. Intruder Detection Sensor Inputs Intruder detection sensors connect to the IAS at terminal blocks on the -series controllers. The IAS supports a variety of intruder detection sensors that provide a discrete output, including: Infrared proximity sensors (PIRs) Door sensors Window sensors Each in the IAS accepts up to 12 discrete inputs. 8 08 Supervising and Single-Contact Sensor A normally-open or normally-closed single-contact input device can be configured with 1-resistor or 2-resistor supervision. Using 1-resistor supervision, the IAS will have the ability to detect a normal, notready/alarm, or tamper condition on the input. With 2-resistor supervision, the IAS will have the ability to detect a normal, not-ready/alarm, tamper, or fault condition on the input. Use 1 K Ohm, 1/4 Watt resistors. Supervising a Multiple-Contact Sensor When you connect a multiple-contact device to the SCU, the IAS uses the input s signal level as an indication of which contact has been activated at the device. A multiple-contact input device can be configured with 2-resistor or 3-resistor supervision depending on the number of contacts in the device. Double-contact Devices An input device that employs two contacts and will require 2-resistor supervision. This will give the IAS the ability to detect a normal, not-ready/alarm, tamper, and fault condition on the input. Triple-contact Devices An input device that employs 3 contacts and will require 3-resistor supervision. This will give the IAS the ability to detect a normal, not-ready/alarm, tamper, fault, and trouble condition on the input. Tamper Switch Input TB1-6 on each SCU is a dedicated tamper switch input. If the SCU is mounted within an enclosure, the tamper switch input can be used to allow the IAS to detect if the enclosure door is opened or if the enclosure is removed from the wall. 9 09 Form-C Contact Outputs Each SCU1280 in the IAS has eight relay (Form-C contact) DO outputs on two 12-pin removable terminal blocks (TB6 and TB7). Two outputs on the left-hand side SCU1280 in the base unit provide connections for warning devices (one internal warning device, one external warning device). The remaining outputs from the SCU1280s in the base unit and expander unit provide zone status signals (that is, SET/UNSET) for PIRs. Each output consists of a Normally Open, a Common, and a Normally Closed terminal. Each relay is a DO output. Onboard Power Each SCU has an onboard power supply that is capable of accepting incoming 24VAC power and converting it to power rated up to 1 amp. Output Number Address TB N. N. N. External power can be used to supplement the onboard power sources, or as a substitute for the onboard power sources. Status signals from external power sources can connect to SCU inputs. This allows the IAS to monitor external power sources for faults.
