3 1 Everyday banking How to transfer your account quickly and easily Step 1: Have your salary deposited at Barclays This is the quickest step. If you are an employee, you just need to give your employer the RIB details of your Barclays account. Step 2: Set up an automatic transfer system At your request, your Barclays Relationship Manager will then set up an automatic transfer from your Barclays account to your secondary account of the sums needed to cover your direct debits while the organisations in question are processing your new account information. This allows you to continue to move funds to your old account until all your automatic transfers and debits have been cancelled. This can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months: it all depends on the organisations and how their computer systems work. To be on the safe side, you should normally count on a three-month period. Step 3: At the end of three months, check in with your Relationship Manager If there are still pending transactions on your old account, you should continue the automatic transfers from your Barclays account to that account and adjust or decrease the amounts as needed. Once all the debits have been moved to the new account, you can put a stop to these transfers.

4 A few tips from Barclays Don t wait to start using your account. Start taking advantage of all the payment facilities available to you straightaway and enjoy the benefits of Barclays packages, which include a bank card and a wide range of exclusive services. We recommend that you return the bank card linked to your old account as soon as possible. Your transfer will be easier to manage, and the old card will not overlap with your new card. As of 1 st January 2005, banks have agreed to stop charging closing fees on instant-access deposit accounts. This means that you will not be charged should you decide to close your account at your former bank. To put a stop to your transfers and debits from your old account, you may use the sample letters provided on form 4 and on our website at Also keep in mind that it is sometimes possible to provide your new bank details by phone (depending on the organisation). Use this change as an opportunity to make Barclays your main bank and profit from our expertise and first-rate investment management.

5 2 Savings and investments How to transfer your assets and savings without wasting money Step 1: Make an appointment with your Barclays Relationship Manager who will Advise you on the types of savings products that are right for you, Provide a detailed assessment of the contents of your investment portfolio, Decide, together with you, on the best transfer strategy, Advise you on the savings and investment products that are likely to meet your needs. Step 2: Let Barclays do the work for you There are many complex steps involved. For your benefit, Barclays will manage these transfers directly with your former bank. And as far as you re concerned, there s nothing to do. Step 3: Let Barclays optimise the management of your assets Use this transfer as an opportunity to consider new investments. 6 Helpful information For Comptes sur Livret (Savings accounts): The goal is to maximise the interest received at the time of the account transfer. For Plan Epargne Logement (Homebuyers' saving scheme), Compte Epargne Logement (Homebuyers' savings account) and Plan Epargne en Actions (PEA): You can transfer the amounts saved and the benefits built up. Securities accounts: Transfers are done holding by holding. If you are a tax resident in France, transferring your savings and investments to Barclays could have a tax impact, so timeframes and arbitrage operations must be optimised. Your Relationship Manager will take care of all the formalities needed to complete this process. Transfer times and costs can vary not only from product to product, but from one bank to another. Your Relationship Manager will explain this to you in detail and on a case-by-case basis depending on your current holdings.

7 3 Questions and Answers For additional information, feel free to contact your Barclays Relationship Manager Q Do I need to transfer all my direct debits to Barclays? A Nothing is mandatory. At Barclays, you are completely free to have your salary deposited to your account and to use an automatic transfer to move funds to your old account to avoid having to change the account from which your debits are taken. Q What do I need to tell my current financial institution? A You are not required to inform your current bank of the change in the bank at which your account is held.

8 Q What should I do if I took out a mortgage at my current financial institution and Barclays becomes my main bank? A There are two possible solutions. The first option is to have Barclays refinance your mortgage. We will first determine whether this solution is appropriate based on the remaining term. The second option is to leave your mortgage at your current institution. In this case, you will need to provide a RIB so that the debits can be made from the new account. Q I have savings accounts and an investment portfolio. Do I also need to transfer them to Barclays? A It would be a shame to not take advantage of Barclays know-how and management quality. Your Barclays Relationship Manager will suggest the strategic approaches that are most in line with your objectives.

9 4 Sample letter To switch your automatic transfers and direct debits to your Barclays account, you must send a letter to all the organisations in question N.B.: It is not necessary to send a registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt. Your letter must contain the following: Your complete contact information and the details of your old account, Information stating that the bank at which your account is held is now Barclays, A Barclays statement of account (RIB). In some cases, you will receive and be asked to return a debit authorisation form. The time needed varies depending on the organisation. Helpful information You can change some of your debits immediately by phone or on the Internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This applies, for example, to France Telecom, EDF, your mobile phone operator, etc.

At you can notify several organisations at once of your change of address and the bank at which your account is held in just a few clicks!
