4 Accreditation & Recognition Trinity College London is an examination board registered as a charity in the United Kingdom Trinity College London is recognized as an awarding body by The Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). Trinity qualifications regulated by Ofqual are now included within the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Some of the benefits of accreditation are that our qualifications are considered for points within the Tariff operated by the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). This applies only to qualifications accredited at Level 3. Trinity Grades 6 to 8 in music, drama. Furthermore, UCAS confirms Trinity English Exams from Grade 7 and ISE II as suitable benchmarks in English language proficiency for entry to UK Higher Education. Trinity s ESOL qualifications are approved by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) for use within its points-based system for UK immigration. Trinity is a full member of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE). In Italy Trinity exams are included in the Elenco Enti Cerificatori issued by the Italian Ministry of Education on (prot. number AOODGAI/10899). Trinity is accredited as a training institution for teachers by the Italian Ministry of Education (prot. number Decreto confirmed by Decreto , prot. 1228). Trinity Examinations can be used as credits for the High School Leaving Exam (Esame di Stato) and are recognized by a number of university faculties for admission and for university credits. 6 Trinity Stars Young Performers in English Award Trinity Stars - Young Performers in English Award - provide an opportunity for teachers and children to present language in songs, poems, short plays, stories or musical works. Trinity Stars are designed to encourage the teaching and learning of English language skills from a very young age through the medium of drama and performance. There are three stages and a separate Trinity Stars School Show Award. Trinity Stars can be taken before or alongside any of the Trinity Graded Examinations in Spoken English. Although each performance must be in English there are no specific criteria for grammatical structures to be used for any of the awards. Trinity Stars are suitable for children who are learning English as a foreign language. It is recommended that children have had at least one year of English language-learning. There is no limitation (space permitting) on how many children are in each group. There must be a minimum of five. Performances take place in the participating schools. 7 English Language Examinations & Qualifications TESOL qualifications for teachers Besides English Language Examinations, Trinity is a leading provider of qualifications for teachers in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). We have been validating courses and awarding qualifications for over 30 years, and ours are among the most widely recognized and respected in the industry. All Trinity English language examinations form a natural part of any course of English language study, undertaken in a group or individually. Preparation for the examination supports the study programme chosen by the teacher and learner, rather than interfering with it. There are three main suites of English Language examinations. GESE The Graded Examinations in Spoken English test candidates ability in Listening and Speaking. They are one-to-one oral examinations with a native Englishspeaking Trinity examiner resident outside of Italy. There are 12 grades in all from pre A1 to C2 of the CEFR. The exams encourage students to develop and progress by acknowledging each step forward; at every stage of the student s development there is a chance to mark success. 9 What makes Trinity language examinations a unique experience Teachers get immediate feedback after the exam session After each Trinity practical exam session the examiner gives up to 30 minutes feedback to the teachers on the general performance of the students as a group. Recorded exams make for transparent assessments All of Trinity s oral exams are recorded by the examiners using audio recording devices. 20 Trinity & PON Support Programme In compliance with the directives from the relevant offices at the Italian Ministry of Education the type of examination and the choice of the Examination Board must be established during the planning phase of the project. For those projects which include an educational stay abroad it is important to choose whether to sit the final exam abroad or in Italy after returning from the educational stay. Besides our Integrated Support Programme, our specific PON Support Programme includes: Meetings to provide GOP members, or anyone who manages the administrative aspects of the project, with all the operational support necessary in order to plan and organize a Trinity exam session.
