2 Description Description The Health Information Management (HIM) program is officially recognized by the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA). The program is designed for those who have experience in the healthcare or health sciences and who wish to pursue a career in the area of health information management. Health information management professionals can occupy various positions in the areas of collection, organization and reporting of health information, release of information, privacy or electronic records development management. As such they are responsible for the management of health information systems consistent with the clinical, administrative, ethical and legal requirements of the health care delivery system. Graduates of the program are eligible to write the national certification examination of the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA). Those wishing to write the certification exam must hold a student membership in the Association prior to the exam. In 2013, the CHA s Health Information Management program was changed to include the use of instructors in our courses. Instructors support students in specific areas of study, providing learning resources, group and individual support as required. In addition, our innovative methodology incorporates interactive activities and practical application opportunities throughout the program. Our HIM program has been updated to retflect the most current material within the field. The HIM program meets the LOHIM 2010 curriculum requirements set by CHIMA. CHA learning now offers a part-time option to study HIM. Please see the Part-Time Study tab for more information. Full-time tuition cost: $1,395/semester for Canadian residents, $1,695/semester for International students, plus textbooks (approximately $1, based on costs). Receive $ off each semester s tuition if you have paid the application fee, submitted a complete application package and paid your full tuition by June 26th, 2014.
