2 HOW TO REGISTER FOR A CLASS ONLINE: BY PHONE: BY FAX: BY MAIL: REFUNDS: Most of our classes are available for online search and registration at You may register by phone if paying with a credit card (VISA, Discover, or MasterCard only). Have the course registration number (CRN) and your credit card ready. You can also call anytime and leave a message and your call will be returned within 24 business hours. Business hours are Monday through Friday, Regular Hours: Monday to Friday between the hours of 8 am and 4:30 pm. Summer Hours: May 11 to August 7, 2015 Monday-Thursday between 7:30 am and 5 pm (College is closed on Fridays). (24 hours - 7 days/week) If you are a company paying for an employee s course, you may fax the completed with company letter, signed by an authorized person, complete with student names, phone numbers, address, course title and section number. Complete and mail with payment. Payments are sent by mail may be made by check or money order only -- NO CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS ACCEPTED BY MAIL. Enrollees may request their company/agency forward the registration fee and the completed form to the campus location nearest to you. If HACC cancels a course, seminar, conference, or trip/tour, all paid participants will receive a 100% refund of tuition. In the event of a cancellation or class schedule change (other than inclement weather-related), the college will make every effort to notify students enrolled in the class. All other refund requests must be made by student in person, writing, or by telephone during normal working hours. Students requesting refunds prior to the first class meeting will receive 100% of all tuition and fees, UNLESS fees are noted as nonrefundable or an earlier refund deadline is published. Mail or fax refund requests must be received in hand by Healthcare Education staff before the class start date or any earlier published refund deadline. If we are not informed of nonattendance before the refund deadline, no refund will be issued. Unless otherwise specifically stated or approved, no refund will be issued after a class start date. We do not issue partial refunds in the event a student starts a class late or does not complete the class. 2

3 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW! All courses can be taken individually for personal enrichment, employment advancement, or as part of a certificate program. Successful completion of all required program courses earns a program certificate of completion. Class, tuition, dates, times, instructors and locations are subject to change. Class cancellations may occur due to low enrollment. Every effort is made not to cancel a class. Courses are listed in recommended sequence and must be completed within 2 years of completing the last prerequisite course. Waiver exams are available for prerequisite courses. Waiver exams may be taken by prospective students who are currently working as a healthcare professional. Student must achieve 70% or higher on the exam for course waiver. Waiver exam cost is $75 per exam. Course waivers are available if course has been completed at HACC or another institution. Transcripts must be provided. To withdraw, students must personally call before the start of a class to receive a 100% refund. Withdrawals received after the first day of class will not receive a refund. A student called for military duty must provide a copy of deployment papers for 100% refund. 3

5 Cardiology Technician Certificate Program Total Program Cost with Prerequisite Courses and optional elective: $2, Total Program Hours The Cardiology Technician Certificate Program is designed to prepare the student with the theoretical and technical expertise to perform basic cardiovascular assessment preliminary to treating patients with cardiac and peripheral vascular diseases. The complete program is available at the Harrisburg and Lancaster campuses. Prerequisite courses in this program may also be available at the York Campus as well as online. Career Opportunities This program will prepare individuals for employment as a cardiology technician in various healthcare settings from hospital facilities to physician practices. Competency Profile This curriculum is designed to prepare students to: Perform various cardiology tests including EKG s, Holter Monitors, and Stress Tests Interpret EKG changes by identifying various types of cardiac dysrhythmias Obtain cardiac history Perform patient assessments and identify abnormalities of the Cardiovascular system Take the national certification examination for Certified Cardiac Technicians (CCT) *Completion of this certificate program, CCT certification and six months of work experience may allow articulation of college credits to either of the two current Cardiovascular Technology degree programs. The course reviews the US healthcare delivery system and identifies roles within that system. The course also introduces the student to concepts of cultural diversity, healthcare law and ethics, Universal Precautions, stress in the workplace, professionalism, communication and interpersonal relations and strategies for becoming a successful healthcare employee. This course is designed to provide the allied health professional with knowledge and skills necessary to recognize cardiac dysrhythmias. The course will include a review of cardiac anatomy and physiology. The relationship between myocardial infarctions and associated EKG changes will be included. This course will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to identify electrolyte imbalances, bundle branch blocks, and chamber enlargements. A written exam and skills testing is required for successful course completion. Students must register two weeks prior to class date. Tuition includes a textbook, which will be mailed approximately two weeks before class. EKG Applications 30 hours / (10) 3 hour sessions Tuition: $468 This course provides hands-on introduction to the devices used in testing the cardiovascular system. This will include recording of basic vital signs, EKGs, cardiac monitoring, and stress testing. 8 Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Total Program Cost with Prerequisite Courses: $4, Total Program Hours with elective Medical Billing and Coding Specialists are responsible for translating and sequencing medical documentation into formal standardized, numerical codes for diagnoses and procedures. Medical billing and coding supports the billing process by coding and processing claims. Career Opportunities This program prepares individuals for employment in the medical community that involve medical billing, coding, and claims processing. Various organizations in the community offer opportunities for employment including medical practices, hospitals, nursing/rehab facilities, coding and billing services, insurance companies, government agencies, and consulting firms. Students will then put the newly acquired knowledge to use when performing a 160-hour, unpaid practicum experience. The course has been approved by the PA Department of Public Welfare to meet the requirements set forth in the new regulations. This program is designed to strengthen health and safety requirements and more adequately address all of the issues surrounding resident care. Course Cost: $1,460 for the 93-hour course content and students must provide a current up-to-date copy of first aid, CPR and AED cards prior to taking the licensure examination. The course of study includes anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology. Massage modalities include Swedish massage, sports massage, reflexology, connective tissue therapy, neuromuscular therapy, chair massage, spa treatments, aromatherapy and integration and assessment. Additional coursework includes ethics, professional communication and personal awareness, and business practices. The clinical portion of the program consists of 115 hours in the studio which includes a minimum of 50 supervised massages. Graduates will receive a HACC certificate of completion. Tuition is $11,800 and includes all supplies and a studio polo shirt. Students may qualify for financial aid, loans or payment plans. This program is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). The school is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).
