The Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management The monday morning Difference
The monday morning Difference Clients increasingly need Executive Development to deliver competitive advantage. CEOs, CLOs and Senior HR professionals are increasingly demanding that Learning & Development (L&D) programs deliver more than: > Simulated problem solving through case-led instruction > Project and team-based sessions for high potentials > Single-subject competencies (e.g. innovation and strategy and leadership) > One-on-one coaching for top leaders > Access to best-in-class IP and faculty that refresh core MBA skills Clients increasingly need Executive Development to deliver competitive advantage: > Solutions to their top level strategic concerns > An experience that embeds long-lasting problem solving capabilities > Participants who return to the organization prepared to execute and lead enterprise-changing initiatives, i.e. the Monday Morning Difference Drucker Executive Education 2
The DRucker Difference The world of today s executive demands the ability to solve companydefining challenges, lead, and develop talent. All of these skills must be mastered in a business environment that is increasingly complex, and where game-changers appear frequently and often mid-project. Drucker Executive Education believes the answer to effectively training top executives today requires a blending of classic and new learning methods, resulting in a mix that extends beyond the traditional faculty-led, classroom experience. We offer a select array of learning methods, led by top-tier talent from the world of executive education, consulting firms, and industry experts. For each client, we customize the learning experience with action-learning, deep market-immersion experiences, project-based solutions with your teams, and organized for your particular leadership and strategy. Founded on timeless ethical and practical principles of the inventor of modern management, Peter Drucker, we deliver a high-value customer solution against your organization s capability needs that cannot be obtained in traditional offthe-shelf solutions or training. Whether your objective is to refresh a current program or design one from scratch, our experienced team can help your organization unleash and capture the competitive advantage inherent in your people, products, and culture. Drucker Executive Education 3
Peter F. Drucker What business are you in? Hailed by BusinessWeek as the man who invented management, Peter F. Drucker directly influenced a huge number of leaders from a wide range of organizations across all sectors of society. Among the many: General Electric, IBM, Intel, Procter & Gamble, Girl Scouts of the USA, The Salvation Army, Red Cross, United Farm Workers, and several presidential administrations. Drucker s 39 books, along with his countless scholarly and popular articles, predicted many of the major developments of the late 20th century, including privatization and decentralization, the rise of Japan to economic world power, the decisive importance of marketing and innovation, and the emergence of the information society with its necessity of lifelong learning. In the late 1950s, Drucker coined the term knowledge worker, and he spent the rest of his life examining an age in which an unprecedented number of people use their brains more than their backs. Throughout his work, Drucker called for a healthy balance: between short-term needs and long-term sustainability, between profitability and other obligations, between the specific mission of individual organizations and the common good, and between freedom and responsibility. 5 Practice Areas & Offerings Leadership and Development OUr Practice Focus 21st century leaders not only have to have vision to take their companies into the future but, at the same time, they have to know how to be highly responsive to opportunity, nimble to change, and keen developers of talent. Our programs address a wide range of senior leadership capability needs, including: > Creating a Vision for the Future > Developing and Retaining Key Talent > Digital Strategy for Leaders > Business Unit Leadership and Strategy > Leveraging Emotional Intelligence > Rainmaking and Professional Services > Advanced Strategic Management > Managing Talent Globally > Foreign Markets: Entry and Exit > Rolling Out Global Marketing Strategies Special Practice areas Managing Professional Services Firms Effectively leading professional services firms requires capabilities in thought leadership, talent development, operations, client service, and financial management. Issues related to partnership structure and the role of a one firm mentality are also keys to successful financial and strategic stewardship of the firm. > Rainmaking and Client Management. The key to growth is how to target, select, develop, maintain, and extend client relationships. Particular attention is focused on the most challenging aspects: price negotiation, having difficult conversations, extending the work into new service domains, and converting clients. > Business Competencies for Lawyers. Drucker Executive Education, in partnership with Southern California law schools, offers four capability-building training and development courses for attorneys. The goal is to enrich business performance of early-career attorneys and convert their talent into rainmaking and senior firm leadership, a step beyond understanding basic business fundamentals that their clients face. Organic Growth In many businesses or industries, it can seem as if all opportunities have been exhausted, growth is flat, or the outlook is increasingly negative. Our research shows that meaningful growth is often left on the table, and Drucker s practice leaders have developed The Discipline of Organic Growth, a foundational methodology that is different from today s predominant view on growth opportunities from educators and consultants. We firmly believe the limit of your core market, product, or people is often the mindset of senior executives, and our organic growth tradecraft and principles can be customized to unlock unrealized growth potential. Drucker Executive Education 5
Practice Areas & Offerings Leadership and Development continued CUSTOM PROGRAMS Custom Executive Education Programs Drucker Executive Education designs and develops custom programs for premier companies and brands worldwide to address nearly every conceivable challenge facing business leaders today. Whether your program goals are strategic or human-assets oriented (or most likely a combination of the two), Drucker Executive Education can flexibly design along the customization continuum to fit your company s unique needs. The breadth of custom programs our practice has developed include: Strategic Capabilities > Market Segmentation > Marketing and Communications > Branding and Brand Development > New Product Development > Acquisition, Divestitures, Post Merger Integrations (PMI) > Innovation: Sophisticated Strategies to Develop > Growth: Core or Adjacent > Digital Strategy and the Digital Consumer Human-Assets Capabilities > Cutting Edge Leadership Tradecraft > Succession Planning for 21st Century > Rainmaking and Client Development > Best-in-Class Leadership Teams > Leveraging Your Emotional Intelligence > Developing Talent > Training and Development of High Potentials > Project Management and Execution Drucker Executive Education 6
Practice Areas & Offerings Corporate Strategy Consulting PRactice Our Practice Focus Drucker s Executive Education consulting talent bench includes former corporate strategy consultants with significant tenure in leadership roles at firms such as McKinsey, BCG and Monitor Group. Together with our network of faculty, analysts, consultants, and business intelligence assets, we can configure teams to address any of the top business challenges facing leaders today. There are two key ways in which our consulting practice offering is unique from many network models in the marketplace: 1 Leading-edge thinkers that are faculty and researchers. Our network includes faculty from leading executive education institutions, who are on the front lines of developing the newest IP, and in the classroom facilitating solutions for company leaders across the globe. Before we configure to help you solve a corporate strategy challenge, our teams run exercises with leading faculty and researchers to get the most fresh, relevant, and forward looking thinking that is available in the marketplace. 2A consulting experience that can convert into capability-building. We can configure our executive education talent with not only our L&D faculty, but with key members of our consulting staff to provide a set of unique coaching and analytical capabilities required to solve your firm s top challenges. Working alongside your teams, our consultants and strategists increase the capabilities of your team to the level of a world-class consulting firm. The result is that your best people increase their skills by using the analytical rigor, experience, methodologies, and frameworks that drive results in a traditional consulting engagement. Drucker Executive Education offers leading-edge Strategic Planning and Execution. Our strategy consulting practitioners integrate best-in-class frameworks with some of the top ideas of today s most provocative thought leaders. The result is a highly contemporary, market-sensitive approach to solving your strategic challenges. No matter what your objective is, we can configure a team of strategists, experts and faculty to help clarify a path ahead, make difficult choices, or even identify new product innovations and launch approaches. Drucker Executive Education 7
Practice Areas & Offerings Program design and recruiting PROGRAM DESIGN Our practice focus We believe any executive development program must be placed in a larger context of organizational transformation. Within this domain, we have been fortunate to help build or reshape some of the leading corporate universities in North America. We offer a variety of consultative services to build or re-fresh your corporate learning function, such as: > Existing Course Content and Delivery Modernization > Original Customized Courses > Faculty Evaluation > Faculty Vetting > Redesign of End-to-End Corporate Learning Function > Ground-up Custom Program Design Our offerings Today, Corporate Universities (also known as internal L&D functions) require an architecture based on the newest design methods and learning approaches to remain competitive in their capability-building of human assets. Our design practice includes top faculty complemented by professional program and curriculum developers, experienced strategy consultants and business intelligence assets. This mix allows us to help refresh, update or completely redesign your internal L&D function, from strategy down to curriculum, and create a profoundly impactful L&D function that supports your corporate goals. Drucker currently has leaders driving redesign in some of the most successful, large-scale L&D organizations in the world. Our network is simply not retired talent from the top consulting firms or expensive experts; we are practitioners seeking to refresh and renew our team thinking with the best and brightest in their fields today.
