2 What is AIE? The Associazione Italiana Editori is the trade association of publishers of books and digital publishing products and content. The AIE represents, at the national and international level (where it is present in various bodies), the firms which produce publishing content regardless of the format (paper or digital) in which it is developed and distributed. In addition it acts as an attentive, informed observatory on the background of reading habits and cultural-educational consumption essential for the country's growth. AIE and publisher Among the objectives of the Association are the following: to represent and defend publishers, to encourage their professional growth and to remove obstacles to the development of a modern publishing market. In terms of professional update for publishers, in addition to specific training initiatives and conferences during the year, the AIE started some business relations with companies providing innovative products and services for publishers, especially in the technology area.

3 AIE and companies Thanks to these agreements carefully monitored by the management the Association means to help publishers to learn about the innovative services available on the market and grant to the members a competitive advantage. The dialogue between publishers and supplier companies is developed by: - Communication initiatives about innovative products and services - particularly advantageous terms, reserved to AIE members, to access these products and services - deepened consultancy on specific topics On the other hand companies joining the Network can take advantage of a privileged exchange field with Italian publishers in different opportunities according to the level of undertaken co-operation. For research into this collaboration the AIE has decided to engage Argentovivo, its commercial partner since Over the years Argentovivo has developed competence in the field of book publishing which has enabled it to build up relations with leading players in the book sector in Italy, including: Associazione Italiana Editori, Fiera Internazionale del Libro per Ragazzi, Lingotto Fiere per il Salone del Libro di Torino, Ibs.it and many other partners.

4 The AIE network: communicate with publishers Giornale della Libreria: official organ of the Association, reaching the major Italian publishers every month. Update and/or newsletter: communication to AIE members and all those who count in the Italian publishing world. GdL news: the weekly newsletter from the Giornale della Libreria is the only one entirely dedicated to the sector with updated and detailed information on trends, data, numbers, people and events in the sector. Conferences: during the year conferences can be organized with the main institutional partners about specific topics, like Editech, started in 2008 as a one-day international event for updating on technological innovation in the book publishing sector, that changed its formula in the years becoming a more interactive event, keeping its international feature. Seminars (free for AIE members) Companies joining the Network can contribute to free training days for member publishers, thus establishing themselves as leading interlocutors and not simply commercial bodies. A unique opportunity to make contact with publishers in a privileged setting. Courses (fees payable). AIE courses now certified by RINA began as a response to the needs of both large and small publishers because, increasingly, professional skills, technical and procedural competences and knowledge of the dynamics of new markets make all the difference in terms of profits and turnover. Companies joining the Network can insert material about their activity, products, services.

6 Formulas The formulas offered to firms presuppose a close cooperative relationship with the Associazione Italiana Editori, which requires as a condition of participation that its own members should be guaranteed advantageous terms. Thanks to this privileged relationship, the AIE commits itself to promote the activities of its commercial partners to the fullest extent possible through the formulas. Collaboration with firms is subject to scrutiny by management of the Associazione Italiana Editori.
