6 ABB s Marine Advisory Systems Benchmarking the Vessel First step is to measure from full scale. Measure We call this the learning period. Approximately 20 signals will do. Length of learning period depends on operational profile, but varies typically between 1-3 months. February 28, 2014 Slide 6

Analyse Measure ABB s mathematicians create a multidimensional non-linear regression model of the measurements. This model reveals the relationship between measurements mostly affecting the performance of the vessel. February 28, 2014 Slide 7

Change Measure Using the baseline provided by the regression analysis, the real effect on energy consumption can be revealed. 28 Case Study: EMMA Dynamic Trim Optimizer Study of fuel savings Data for this study was automatically collected from the ship (192 m multipurpose vessel) on a high frequency. The data was measured for 6 months. The data was filtered for a subset of: Draft between 9 m and 10 m Speed range from 14 knots to 17 knots The resulting subset consisted of about 20 days of data. No other modifications during the test period The used data was based on measured draft, speed through water, shaft power and trim of the ship. February 28, 2014 Slide 28
