2 The RELATIONSHIP area of the home lies in the furthest right-hand corner from the front door. This area relates to all one-to-one relationships, including those with a spouse, partner, employer or even your best friend. It is, according to Feng Shui, the most feminine part of the house and needs to be warm and welcoming and feel soft. The RELATIONSHIP area is associated with the earth element specifically fertile earth that anything can grow in. The energy here should be still and safe and feel warm and welcoming. If this area is missing, it can be difficult to find and stay with a life partner. All one-to-one RELATIONSHIPS can have a tendency to start strong but then dissolve away. This area relates to the health of the stomach, which will gradually become weaker if the RELATIONSHIP area is non-existent. It can be difficult for a woman to be totally happy in her house unless cures for this area are put in place. If this area is extended then sometimes that can cause difficulties too. Feng Shui believes that if a man and woman live together then the woman s energy can become too strong and dominant potentially weakening the RELATIONSHIP between her partner and herself. An extended area will weaken the health of both partners by creating over activity in the stomach area or even give a person living in this space a bigger than normal appetite. In all marriages in ancient China (and many other countries in the world as well), matchmakers used to play a prominent role. First of all, an astrological chart of the marriageable person was carefully drawn up and complementary and harmonious matches were made. When this operation was completed and the couple formed a match, the date of the wedding would then be set. A lucky day would be selected and an unlucky day would be avoided. This date would then be sent on a yellow (lucky) card to the parents of the groom and the parents of the bride. Traditionally, depending on the year in which the bride was born she would plan her wedding in a month that was thought to bring her luck. This would give her an auspicious start to her wedding and to her marriage. 2

3 In fact, the Chinese celebrate three happy occasions in life, referred to as hei see. Of the three (a birth, a marriage and a birthday with longevity), marriage is regarded as the most significant. The Chinese word for Double Happiness has come to symbolize the marriage union. Placing that symbol in the RELATIONSHIP area is a powerful talisman for creating marriage luck. The best way to activate the RELATIONSHIP area is with bright lights. Keep lights turned on for three hours each night. A bright red light in this area of the bedroom brings romance in your life. You can also place any of the symbols that we are about to discuss in this area to activate and balance the energy of the matriarch enhancing the trigram and, therefore, the luck of this area. You can add cures for this important area of love and romance, relationship and marriage. Cures placed with intention in the RELATIONSHIP area will improve or attract your primary RELATIONSHIP the one that you have with a lover or partner. The places in the home that are most connected with the area of marriage are: Your bed Your bedroom as a whole The RELATIONSHIP AND ROMANCE area of your bedroom The RELATIONSHIP AND ROMANCE area of your home. Since the bed and bedroom are also primary symbols of yourself (you) many of these cures are powerful for changing your entire life, as well as your RELATIONSHIPS. Qualities of your heart, open communication and truthfulness are paramount for success in this particular life area. RELATIONSHIP AND ROMANCE A DRAGON HEADED TURTLE will come to your RELATIONSHIP rescue if your relationships are a bit stagnant and you want them to develop - even if you haven t got a partner at the moment. 4 you to accumulate long-lasting and dynamic relationships and find new beginnings. He symbolizes good luck and protection. Put a piece of red ribbon in his mouth in and place the turtle in the RELATIONSHIP area of your bedroom. This turtle represents all sorts of new beginnings. He should look out a window after dusk but in the morning turn him around so that he faces the interior. Respect the dragon headed turtle and he can make your RELATIONSHIP dreams come true. The dragon represents the celestial male energy. He can make himself so small that he becomes invisible or can swell himself up to be larger than life so that he fills the space between heaven and earth. He is the masculine guardian who defends the RELATIONSHIP while also bringing home blessings. The phoenix is the mythical empress of birds. She only appears during times of peace and prosperity and is an emblem of beauty. The phoenix is beautiful and bountiful. Usually the dragon and phoenix is depicted with a pearl between them to make space and energy for a fortuitous marriage. Hang a depiction of the dragon and phoenix together in the RELATIONSHIP area of your bedroom to bring more love into your life. 4

5 A LAMP is a symbol of fertility. In Chinese tradition when one is placed under the bridal bed, it is called the children/grandchildren lamp. Other lamps called all night long lamps are placed on either side of the bed. To encourage harmony and bliss both lamps should be switched off in unison for the 27 consecutive days. 5
