1 [Overview] Welcome to the Center of Transportation & Traffic Safety Studies (CTTSS) at Abu Dhabi University. This center was established as part of Abu Dhabi University s strategic plan to make a positive contribution to our community by developing effective community engagement and public relations strategies that actively include external constituents. The center addresses the needs of the public community by fosteringinnovative research activities that have the potential to improve the safety and traffic operations on Emirati roads by identifying the factors that may have negative effects on road safety and attempting to control those factors to make roads safer for all users. The center also addresses the needs of the professional community in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region by offering high-level technology transfer activities, such as seminars, training courses, webinars, and workshops. Those activities focus on the emerging areas that interest the professionals in the field of transportation engineering, such as design consistency of roadways, sustainability in transportation engineering, safety audit for roadway projects, and measuring the effectiveness of different treatments that may be applied to improve traffic safety. Finally, the center also addresses the needs of the public community as well as the professional community in the United Arab Emirates by providing consultation services in the field of transportation engineering such as traffic impact studies for projects that have potential impact on the nearby traffic networks, as well as environmental assessment studies for transportation projects that have potential impact on the environment. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to learn more about the center and its different activities. Dr. Essam Dabbour, P. Eng. Director, Center of Transportation & Traffic Safety Studies Abu Dhabi University [email protected]
