8 Position: Senior Microbiologist We are seeking to hire a microbiologist scientist in the Research Department. The qualified individual will conduct independent research and work in a team-oriented environment. The candidate will serve as an internal 'consultant' on microbial issues and support routine testing. 9 Position: Food Scientist MS or PhD The food scientist will be responsible for designing products and or processes to support the overall strategic direction of the oral tobacco product development group. With moderate to minimal guidance, the scientist must be capable of executing projects which lead to the development of consumer acceptable oral tobacco products. This individual must be able to perform in a highly diverse, multi-functional environment and communicate effectively to deliver against well defined goals. Additionally, it is incumbent upon the individual to utilize sound scientific principles to help define the scientific landscape of a new product category. The food scientist must possess excellent project management skills, must be able to design experiments, interpret results and communicate effectively with peers and management. With little guidance, this individual must be able to effectively manage multiple projects and possess good time management skills in order to meet aggressive deadlines. The food scientist must be able to utilize sound scientific principles to provide innovative solutions to complex problems. This position will be responsible for developing innovative oral tobacco products and processes which will likely lead to consumer acceptable offerings and intellectual property which the company will seek to protect through patent disclosures. Good written communication skills will be required as some project work may lead to publication in peer-reviewed venues. Requirements - Ph.D or M.S. degree in Food Science - Experience in the food industry or related field is a plus. - Good written communication skills. Must be capable of conceiving and executing original research projects. The application of innovative science to supply solutions to complex, multi-disciplinary problems will be a key asset for this position.
10 Position: Food Scientist - PhD Required Experience: At least 2 year(s) The senior R&D food scientist will be chiefly responsible for the development of new oral tobacco prototypes and/or processes which lead to consumer acceptable products. This individual will be responsible for designing, directing, conducting and interpreting scientific studies with the aim of providing innovative solutions to product development or processing questions related to oral tobacco products. In addition, the senior R&D food scientist must be able to effectively collaborate across numerous functional areas to solve problems, provide insight and develop scientific measures to evaluate sensory information. This position also requires the incumbent to interact effectively with consumer marketing to translate consumer trends and perceptions into actionable, milestone driven work programs. As a senior scientist, the individual is required to design and execute a comprehensive research program with minimal guidance using advanced scientific principles and/or practices to solve complex and multifaceted problems related to oral tobacco product or process development. The individual must utilize their skills as a foundation to break new ground and define the scientific landscape of a developing product category. The senior scientist must be able to direct and lead colleagues, provide feedback to upper management and author internal and peer-reviewed scientific reports. Additionally, it is expected that much of the research will result in intellectual property which should be protected through patent disclosures. As leader, the senior food scientist must be able to plan and coordinate the logistical support requirements to successfully execute their scientific programs, including defining and managing a program budget. - Ph.D in Food Science years experience in the food industry or related field. Relevant experience in the area of food processing techniques is highly desired. A firm understanding of state of the art equipment is also desired. Understanding the relationships between product formulation and sensory attribute response would be beneficial. - Superior writing and communication skills. Must be capable of conceiving, directing and executing original research projects. Must be able to manage professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment.
11 Position: Senior Scientist-Clinical Trial Coordinator We are seeking a qualified Senior Scientist - Clinical Trial Coordinator to join our Research & Development department. - Design and conduct clinical trials to assess individual and population exposure to existing, emerging and novel tobacco products. - Develop and implement innovative and effective strategies for understanding and assessing public health implications of potentially reduced risk tobacco products. - Direct and coordinate clinical project team efforts according to specific project designs, including business justification, project scope and timeline, protocol development, ethics approval, logistics, resource and budget requirements, final reporting, etc. - MS or MPH in public health, epidemiology or related field required; significant clinical trial experience or PhD (DrPH) preferred. - Education and/or experience in the principles of design, implementation and analysis of clinical trials. - Education and/or experience in fundamentals of public health surveillance or clinical epidemiology. - Fundamental understanding of basic biological, chemical, toxicological, medical and statistical concepts and principles. - Ability to work independently and make guided decisions. - Ability to be a strong contributor to and work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary team environments. - Ability to think both tactically and strategically. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Leadership, organization, and time management skills.
12 Position: Study Director Toxicologist The study director toxicologist will have responsibilities to design, conduct, review, and interpret the results of toxicology studies using laboratory rodents. The study director toxicologist will have responsibilities to conduct studies of acute, subchronic, or chronic durations employing prototypical products, products, or ingredients used in products. Studies will be conducted in concert with a data quality system such as Good Laboratory Practices. The study director toxicologist will design and conduct toxicology studies to address product related questions to support product understanding and product stewardship. The study director toxicologist will have knowledge and experience related to the safe handling of laboratory chemicals, experience in the use of laboratory rodents according to accepted practices for the appropriate care and use of laboratory animals, and general familiarity with a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation and assays used to evaluate toxicological responses. The study director toxicologist will have responsibility to provide guidance and feedback to staff involved in the laboratory conduct of studies. The study director toxicologist will be responsible for defining logistical support needs, assist in developing budgetary needs, and overall successful conduct of toxicology studies. Requirements - Ph.D. in Toxicology/Pharmacology or related discipline - General knowledge in the design and conduct of toxicology studies with proven experience in design, conduct, interpretation, and reporting of results. It is expected that the senior staff toxicologist will have 2 or more years of experience in the design and conduct of toxicology studies. - Effective presentation skills associated with providing oral reports to management regarding progress or outcome of studies is expected. The candidate will be required to provide written updates of progress, summaries of results, and complete quality assured final reports. Experience in the conduct of inhalation or dermal studies with rodents is desired.
