A: 1) victor unified client is the user interface (UI) which operators use to view and manage their video security system. 2) victor site manager is the real-time event engine routing alarms and events across your system. The victor Site manager also manages the permission control (i.e. who is allowed on the system what devices and features they can see or use, etc.), journals what occurred (i.e. who searched, viewed, or export a video clip, etc.) and it manages the licensing. Q: Is victor software license free? A: victor is licensed on a concurrent or per connection basis. (Over half of all enterprise software is licensed this way). The number of PCs a customer can install victor clients on is unlimited. The licensing is based on how many operators a customer wants to have at one time. Victor is sold as a base (sold as a 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, or 50 connection base) and then additional connections can be added in either one or in five connections. Q: Do I need a victor site manager? A: Yes, when victor unified client is launched it connects to the victor site manager and then downloads the operators permissions (or even if they have full access to the video system) and devices they have been given permission to access. The victor site manager is also where the connection licensing occurs. Once the victor unified client is connected, calling up video is done directly from victor unified client to the recorder & camera to avoid latency. Additionally, the victor site manager tracks and journals operator and device activity as part of its reporting features. Q: What Operating Systems does victor support? A: Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), Vista and XP Service Pack 3 are all supported. Windows 7 is recommend and will support multi-monitor solutions / higher video performance by using DirectX and more efficient offloading of video rendering to the PC s video card vs. older Windows XP based systems. Q: Do I need a dedicated PC to run victor site manager? A: No, you can run both victor site manager and victor unified client on the same PC. The victor site manager does need to be running 24 x 7 (no sleep modes) to receive and store journal information and grant access to operators. However, if you plan to have many clients, then a dedicated server-grade PC would be recommended. For systems with over 100 cameras it is recommended to have a separate PC to ensure peak performance of both the victor site manager and unified client.

2 Q: Why is the victor Command Center important? A: the victor Command Center lets you build your own security operation s center. You can manage thousands of cameras from multiple locations, and create video walls using standard PCs. You can easily communication and care information and push information (video views, maps, etc.) from one operator to another. In addition, the victor Command Center adds the Event Priority Window for increased situation awareness/escalation options for live monitoring systems. Q: Do I need victor to work with VideoEdge NVR v4.2? A: It is strongly recommended and is the only way to use all of the rich features (i.e. motion smart searches, permission control, etc) which are part of the upgraded VideoEdge NVR v4.2. Q: Does VideoEdge work on other hardware platforms? A:. Yes, V4.2 VideoEdge is now offered as a SW only solution. A desktop and a server grade minimum hardware specs are required. A: VideoEdge version 4.2 supports 10 manufactures of IP cameras. A: VideoEdge support H.264, MJPEG, and MPEG-4 Q: What is VideoEdge s camera capacity? A: The R710 and R720 rack mount server version, supports up to 128 dual streaming cameras However, with today s IP Cameras and H.264 CODECs the data rate coming is highly dependent on ips, resolution, and level of motion. Mbps is the best way to measure how much video can be recorded to disc and streamed out to clients. The R710/R720 has 800 Mbps of video throughput, with 400 Mbps from camera to disk and 400 Mbps out to clients, or 64 American Dynamics Illustra i610 (1080p) cameras on a single VideoEdge unit. The desktop/minitower supports up to 32 dual streaming cameras or 100 Mbps (50 video in and 50 Mbps video out). Q: What happens if I exceed 400 Mbps? A: You should always design the system to keep below the 400 Mbps of video record; however, the system does have additional capabilities should you exceed the maximum and will continue to operate normally. The Desktop/Minitower is rated at 50Mbps

A: when all camera are set with motion detecgtion and metadata generation the VideoEdge can support maximum 64 cameras per server Q: Can I use H.264 for motion detection? A: Motion detection requires either a MJPEG or MPEG-4 stream for motion scene information meta-data collection. Meta-data can be captured on a single stream camera using MJPEG or MPEG-4 or a dual stream camera with the second stream set for MJPEG or MPEG-4. Q: Why I cannot use H.264 for motion detection? A: The resources required to decode H.264 video streams to generate the motion detection are much greater than MP4 and Mjpeg and will require significant reduction in total camera supported and total bandwidth supported per server. A: The meta-data stream (MPEG-4 or MJPEG) per camera must be enabled for the motion search, motion alarm, or motion record to operate. A: Yes, the newly offered Video Analytics are embedded on the VideoEdge NVR, eliminating a costly 2 nd box many video analytic solutions require. Q: How much storage does the server support? Q: Does VideoEdge provide the ability to communicate over narrow bandwidth connections A: VideoEdge Dynamic Bandwidth Management (DBM) provides the ability to communicate over narrow bandwidth connection by performing high level algorithm maintaining frame rate or resolution. In addition the DBM provides the ability to cap the amount of bandwidth used on the LAN and/or LAN enabling VideoEdge to coexist with other network device on the network (e.g. credit card, insurance, etc ) Q: Does VideoEdge integrated with Software house access control system A: Yes, VideoEdge is integrated to both CCURE 800 and In addition using victor client the victor/videoedge combo is unified with CCURE 9000 for a complete operation providing unified event management in phase 1. Upcoming victor releases add Swipe and Show and personnel management from within victor. Q: Can I buy software-only versions of VideoEdge v4.2? A: Yes, you can. VideoEdge and victor client are available as a VMS software only bundled supporting up to 64 dual-streaming cameras, and a total of 600Mbps* of video throughput (300Mbps write to disc/ and 300Mbps playback to clients). VideoEdge NVR enables multiple video streams for live, record, alarm bump, and meta-data collection.

4 Intellex: Q: What version of Intellex does victor work with? A: Intellex DVMS, IP, LT or Ultra v3.2 to 4.3+ Q: Can I perform Instant Playback on any Intellex? A: Instant Playback uses streaming technology which is native in VideoEdge v4.0 and higher and Intellex 4.2 or greater. The Intellex hardware v3.2 to 4.1 does not have the required software to support streaming video. Intellex 4.0 & 4.1 can be upgraded at no cost to support streaming playback. Intellex v3.2 can be upgraded but it does require upgrading the Microsoft OS to Windows XP Embedded, for which Microsoft does charge a licensing fee. Q: Can I use victor with Intellex alone, or does it require a VideoEdge NVR? A: You can purchase the victor video solution to use with your current Intellex units and we recommend it. Adding existing Intellex DVRs can be done in minutes and the camera/intellex information (i.e. camera name) is automatically brought into victor. Items like tours, salvos, and other new features in victor will need to be programmed as part of the replacement of Network Client. The embedded policy manager and virtual matrix capabilities are included as part of victor and it does not require separate licenses. General: Q: What video codecs does the solution support?
