In the pop up screen, enter state, city, school name and click on "find school". View your school's Dress Code Guidelines (.pdf) and be sure to note Dress Code Items. 2 Ad Fontes Academy Upper School Dress Code 7 th 12 th Grades ALL CLOTHING MUST BE PURCHASED FROM LANDS END. GENERAL DRESS CODE INFORMATION The Dress Code is descriptive items not on the Dress Code are not permitted. Please be sure to follow the guidelines, including acceptable styles when there are several available. While AFA attempts to keep the information on the Lands End web site current, the guidelines in this document always take precedence over what is on the Lands End web site. Students are to dress modestly and neatly. Modesty involves not only having regard for the coverage and fit of clothes but also for the message that clothing sends. The requirement to be modest includes the stipulation that clothing should not call undue attention to itself or to its wearer. Clothing and accessories must be tasteful, clean, appropriately sized, and in good repair. Students must keep shirts tucked in at all times except for the ladies 3/4 sleeve Oxford. Only white or gray undershirts are permitted. Undershirt (including turtleneck) sleeves must not be longer than the uniform top they are worn under. All sweaters, vests, and sweatshirts must be worn over a polo, oxford, or turtleneck. Pants, shorts, and skirts must be worn at the waist. Belts are required with pants or shorts. Students may not wear hoods or hats indoors. Inside the school building, students may wear only approved sweaters or sweatshirts as listed in the uniform guidelines. Students may wear any coat, sweater, or sweatshirt outside during recess and P.E. The amount and style of jewelry must be modest and tasteful. Boys may not wear earrings. Neither boys nor girls may have any other piercings. Students are to keep their hair neat and brushed and out of their eyes. Boys' hair must be kept short enough that it is not touching the back collar of their shirts. Note that students will be required to wear their special events uniforms every Thursday. The Upper School Principal may waive the dress code for special events. The Upper School Principal is the arbiter of whether a student is in compliance with the dress code. P.E. UNIFORM (7TH & 8TH GRADES) Required If students have P.E. in the morning, they must wear their P.E. uniforms to school and, at lunch time, change into their regular uniforms for the remainder of the day. If they have P.E. after lunch, students must wear their regular AFA uniform to school and change into their P.E. uniform at lunch time. Top: AFA polo, or AFA active wear shirt or Spirit Wear shirt purchased through the Lands End site. Bottom: AFA uniform shorts or AFA monogrammed athletic shorts in dark navy from Land's End. Bottom: Navy, burgundy, or black sweat pants. No writing is permitted on the sweat pants. Shoes: sneakers are required. Students may wear any style or color of sneakers. Please keep in mind when making your size selection for athletic shorts from Land's End that when a student is standing normally, the bottom of the shorts must be below the student s fingertips. 2

SPIRIT WEAR DAYS (FRIDAYS) On any Friday students may wear the following: Spirit Wear tops purchased through the Land's End site. Regular dress code bottoms and shoes. CASUAL DAYS Clothes must be modest and tasteful, honoring the dignity of the person and showing respect to others. They must be clean and in good repair (no rips, not even fashionable ones). PERMITTED Polo shirts or t shirts without words, graphics, or logos. Sweaters or sweat shirts without hoods. Pants in good repair. Shorts which are no more than 3 inches above the knee. Girls may wear skirts and dresses which are no more than 3 inches above the knee. Athletic shoes, mocs, or loafers. NOT PERMITTED Any shirt, sweater, or sweatshirt with words, pictures, or logos. Sleeveless or spaghetti strap tops. Sweaters or sweat shirts with hoods or words, pictures, or logos. Sweat pants, flannel pants, pajama pants. Athletic shorts. Short shorts. Dresses or skirts that are too short or with high slits. Sandals and flip flops. FAQ Q: Are patterns allowed, e.g. floral patterns or geometric patterns? A: Yes, as long as they are not graphics.
