1 Sampling reservoir & separator fluids Introduction Among all other procedures during exploitation and production of oil and gas, sampling starts a field development. After, seismic, drilling and logging procedures to describe physically the well formation, sampling corresponds to the series of techniques applied to obtain representative samples of oil/gas/water wellbore fluids. Vinci Technologies always engaged to bring the better-in-class reservoir services, have been developed series of sampling equipment complementary between them oriented to operate at wellsite even under hostile environment. They perform at all-time easy operation and precise acquisition data. Sampling hydrocarbon fluids accessories are oriented to obtain unaltered samples. Its purpose is to transfer at wellsite reservoir fluids into a shipping bottles reducing sampling time by reliable operation above reservoir pressure. We propose a wide range of equipment which helps in each specific task from sampling into the well, sample preparation until the further Pressure/Volume/Temperature - PVT analysis in the laboratory. 2 Positive Displacement Transfer The Positive Displacement Sampler (PDS) is a bottomhole tool used to recover sampling fluids as oil/gas or water present in the wellbore, without alter sample pressure conditions and avoiding flashing sample. The tool consists of a gas chamber, a reservoir sample chamber, a mechanical operated clock system and a trigger mechanism with a hanging head. The system comes complete with the sampling tool, carrying case and service kit if it is required. Before running the tool, it is pressurized with a buffer fluid and the operator sets the clock mechanism for adjustable sample duration. Then, the positive displacement is completed when the pressurized hydraulic oil pushes the reservoir fluid slowly in the sample chamber. When the sampler is run, the well fluid progressively displaces the hydraulic oil at precise rate flow avoiding flashing the sample. This process ensures unaltered reservoir fluid sample, no contamination to maintain the original fluid without changes the properties (e.g., GOR) at pressure and temperature conditions of the reservoir. The sampler is sealed and locked automatically and it is ready to be pulled out from the reservoir to the surface via wireline, slickline, electric-line, coiled-tubing or sucker pump rods systems. Based on thickness and stability of the reservoir the PDS trigger clock allows for adjusting what, when and how long an interval will be sampled. If this transfer is carried out at site location this reduces the costs associated with long-term storage and testing of retained samples. Transfer Bench has been designed to perform transfer fluids at wellsite without using mercury, allowing at the same time bubble point pressure for sample validation. The apparatus comes with transfer pump, transfer and control valves, two precision gauges, valves, fittings, connections, accessories kit and stainless steel transportation box. The sampler is positioned horizontally in clamps above the rear and the sample cylinder to one side. 4 High Pressure Piston (HPP) sample cylinder Reservoir fluid sample cylinders The samples collected from reservoir must be transferred into shipping cylinders to be transported from well site to the PVT laboratory for further analyses. Vinci Technologies offers a wide range of cylinders to cover all types of hydrocarbon fluids such as encountered in the oil industry improving the principle of fluid transportation. Critical features for designing such cylinders concern the pressure rating, volume and construction material of the cylinder. The HPP series sample cylinder is a double end piston type cylinder for safe transportation of the reservoir fluid to the laboratory. The sample fluid is isolated from the secondary driving fluid with a floating piston especially designed to minimize friction and reduce pressure load. The piston accommodates a mixing ball with a minimum of dead volume. On the sample side, an evacuation port nipple and plug are also incorporated on the sample side. Valves installed at either end of the bottle are protected by valve guards to avoid damage during handling. Cylight series The cylight series is a double end piston type cylinder. It is especially designed to minimize friction and reduce pressure load during transportation. The piston accommodates a mixing ball with a minimum of dead volume and can be used for agitation during determination of bubble point. 5 Low Pressure Piston (LPP) sample cylinder The LPP series sample cylinder is a double end piston type cylinder for storage and transportation of the surface fluid to the laboratory. The sample fluid is isolated from the secondary driving fluid with a floating piston especially designed to minimize friction and reduce pressure load. The bottle is equipped with an external magnetic volume tracker. The inlet and pre charge valves are provided with safety burst discs and pressure indication gauges. The standard bottle has a capacity of 20 liters at pressure up to 3,000 psi. Construction material is aluminium. All standard bottles are furnished with one angle needle valve at each end. Valves are protected by valve guards from damage during handling. A carrying case is also available for transportation purposes. Flow through sample cylinder (FTS series) The FTS series sample cylinder is a flow through cylinder for storage and transportation of low pressure gas and oil sample. 6 Heating mantle Once the sample is at surface conditions, the changes in temperature could be source of problems such as solids deposition or high viscosity. Then, a heating mantle offers a convenient, cost-effective way to heat and maintain temperatures inside of sample cylinder. It provides clean heat, eliminates hot or cold spots and is very easy to install and remove. They provide multiple heating zones, remain chemical and moisture resistant and are easily adaptable to multiple diameters of cylinders and sampler.
