WELCOME TO UNIVERSIDAD LOYOLA ANDALUCIA The Universidad Loyola Andalucia, created by the Society of Jesus, is the first private Andalusian University, whose mission, faithful to the best Jesuit university tradition, is to train men and women for others, the best people for the world. The same as ES (1958, Barcelona) and IC (191, Madrid), the Universidad Loyola Andalucia, promoted by ETEA (193, Córdoba), the former Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the Universidad de Cordoba, followed DEUSTO s University steps (191, Bilbao) in order to expand Business and Administration Sciences studies all over Spain. ABOUT UNIVERSIDAD LOYOLA ANDALUCÍA S TEACHING STAFF AND PEDAGOGICAL METHOD The prestige of Universidad Loyola Andalucía is supported by the reputation of excellence of its former institution ETEA (born in 193), acquired over its 50 years of existence. We have a teaching staff of proven excellence. With an extensive teaching and research experience of our professors, who have a deep knowledge of the economic and business world, students receive the knowledge, values and skills that the current labour market requires. Universidad Loyola Andalucía has a strong vocation for research. It has more than 15 innovative interdisciplinary strands, thus becoming a research university. The Universidad Loyola Andalucía s academic teaching method is based on training for leadership. It combines the intellectual training with mastery of technical knowledge, with the development of social relationship skills. The educative project rests in several performance lines: regular courses, languages, Debate Club, Theater, sport activities, complementary training courses, seminars, internships, academic guidance and academic exchanges... in reduced groups of 0 students. 5. ACMIC OFFER Our students usually have between 20 and 25 hours of In-class lectures sessions per week. Most of them are lectures in the classroom, sometimes also tutorials, assignments, case studies, practical sessions, etc., depending on the subject and the corresponding lecturer. The student must normally sit for one or two examinations, either written or oral, in every course. Seminar schedule: 2 full days in morning and afternoon sessions. - CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY TRANSITION SCHOOL (2 ECTS). 2 nd Semester-Spring: Activity aimed at university students and professors, professionals in the energy and the environment sector and citizens interested in the energy transition and climate change. Lecturers and speakers with extensive experience in the industry will discuss the current status of the Energy Transition in the context of climate change in Europe. Seminar schedule: 2 full days in morning and afternoon sessions. - GLOBAL AFFAIRS SEMINAR (3 ECTS) English: This seminar aims at throwing light on the areas of study that need to be globally approached due to our permanently changing world, such as Innovation, Sustainability, Consumer Behavior, Business Ethics, Entrepreneurship, etc. Professors from abroad universities will be invited to give lectures on these subjects sharing their perspectives. Seminar schedule: The seminar has a duration of 1 week, lectures from Monday to Thursday, in the afternoon, and a company visit on Friday morning. There will be a test on the following week. 23
24 . CREDITS AND GR SYSTEM grade scale is numerical, going from 0 to 10. A minimum of 5 is required to pass a course. APPLYING TO LOYOLA Students intending to apply to Universidad Loyola Andalucía as an Erasmus or an Exchange student must follow some steps: The Office at Loyola Andalucía must receive the student s Nomination from the student s Home University (normally by ). The nominated students must fill in an application form (with Word processor) and send it to [email protected] / [email protected] The Office will send an confirmation to the student with information about the exchange program. The Office will send Letters of Acceptance to non EU students in order to obtain their visa. Students coming from EU institutions who will need a letter of acceptance from Universidad Loyola Andalucía, must require it specifically. Otherwise we do not send expressly letters of acceptance to EU students. Before the student s arrival, they will receive an from their tutor-buddy, a student from Universidad Loyola Andalucía who will be in charge of their integration in Seville. Their tutor will be in contact with them prior to their arrival in Spain and will pick them up at the station. 24
25 As soon as students know their arrival date in Seville, they MUST communicate it to their tutor indicating approximate time of arrival. If they do not know their exact arrival date in advance (at least 15 days in advance), it will not be possible for tutors to pick up international students at the train or bus station STARTING YOUR EXPERIENCE AT LOYOLA After the arrival the student must proceed to its official registration for the desired courses at Universidad Loyola Andalucía. The registration process has a cost of 30 for administrative fees. When they are officially registered, students will receive the student card and their username and password to access WIFI, library and other facilities. 8. PRACTICAL INFORMATION SEVILLE Seville is a nice and welcoming town. Its population is about 703,000 inhabitants. The capital of the Andalusian Region is a beautiful and historical city. It has many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Seville is an affordable city compared to the rest of Spain, although expenses may vary according to everyone s personal requirements. 00 /month is the average expense for a student in our city (housing included). Eating out in Spain is often cheap and meals are substantial. One of the best ways to sample food is to try tapas. Tapas are very typical, but are not a normal daily lunch or dinner. The areas recommended to taste tapas are El Salvador or la Alfalfa. Breakfast and lunch are served at our cafeteria at a good price. (coffee + toast breakfast is 1,0 ; one course menu is 5 ; 2 course menu 7, etc). The nightlife in Seville is very active and offers endless entertainment options. You will find that Paseo de Colón, Calle Betis, the areas surrounding the river are bustling with people. You can have updated information about concerts, activities and other events at La Guía Go: ( or downloading the app Agenda ICAS Sevilla on your mobile phone Transport is very affordable too. A single ticket is 1.40, however with a bus card the journey is 0.9. ( Moving around in Seville by bicycle is easy and convenient since there are cycleways in most parts of the city. If you own your own bicycle you will be able to travel around the city fast. However, if you do not have any bicycle you can buy a year bonus to use public bicycles. 25

ACCOMMODATION The Office will help you finding a suitable accommodation in Seville, by recommending some agencies that collaborate with Universidad Loyola Andalucía and offer the best rooms in town for our students. In Seville, one of this agencies is Room Sevilla. They offer affordable and centrally located apartments. You can book your apartment online: [email protected] This agency won t charge you with extra fees for their accommodation services. You can have a look at their website at Your buddy will also help you, before your arrival, in finding an accommodation. We can also give you some advice in the case you want to stay with a home family VISA INFORMATION Visas are not required for EU-citizens. A student visa is mandatory for any Non-European student wishing to study in Spain for one semester or two semesters. The visa is processed in your country of residence prior to your departure All student visas are valid for a period of 90 days from your entry day into Spain. If the student is going to stay for the whole academic year, he or she must contact the local authorities to acquire a student residency card valid until the end of the academic year. 2
27 To do so, the student needs to apply for the Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (TIE) at the Central Police Station if they are going to stay for more than mohts. The following documentation is needed: - 3 passport sized photos - TIE form duly filled (Uhttp://extranjeros.empleo.gob.es/es/ModelosSolicitudes/Mod_solicitudes2/17- Formulario_TIE.pdf) - Receipt of the fee payment for the issuing of the card: All this information about legal procedures and more is available at Universidad.es Website: HOW TO GET TO SEVILLE From Seville s Airport Daily buses run every 30 minutes from Seville Airport to the city centre ( The cost is 4. From Madrid If you fly to Madrid Barajas Airport ( then you have to go to the city centre to continue your trip to Seville. Madrid Barajas Airport is served by taxi (about 30 min. ride and aprox. 30 fare), metro ( and bus (every min.). Once in Madrid, you can travel to Seville by train or coach: Madrid-Seville by train, from Atocha Train Station (Information on timetables and fares are available at where you can also get your ticket in advance). From the airport you would have to take metro line 8, then metro line 10 and finally line 1 stopping at Atocha. Madrid-Seville by coach: Socibus offers coach tickets from Madrid to Seville ( The Coach bus station is located in Méndez Álvaro (from the airport you would have to take metro line 8, then metro line ). From Malaga From Malaga Airport, you can get a bus (they ride every 30 min.), a train or a taxi to get to the centre where you can continue your trip to Seville by coach ( or train ( 27

( There is a rechargeable card that will allow you to use buses during all your stay, without having to pay with cash. This card is called Tarjeta multiviaje and you can use it to get on buses and tram ( There is a Young Bus Card that can be obtained following the instructions on the website: Universidad Loyola Andalucía offers a daily bus that goes to the campus stopping at different areas of Seville. HEALTH IN SEVILLE The Social Security system covers medical assistance for all EU citizens with an European Health Card. - Students from EU countries must apply for the European Health Card in their country to benefit from the social security before travelling to Spain or the E-111/128 forms. The health card and these forms will entitle them to medical care within the Medical Security System. ria/desplazamientospore115/tse2/index.htm. - However, Spain has agreements with some non-eu countries. The list of countries with a bilateral agreement can be found on under Internacional. * If you want to see a doctor within the Public Medical Security System (all European students and some non European under state agreements) you must go to the nearest medical center and register. To register in your nearest medical centre, you will need: a photocopy of your ID and a photocopy of your inssurance card. They will assign you a doctor who will be your doctor during your stay in Seville. For emergencies, students should go to the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío ( or Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena ( students from countries not included above and who are not covered by the Social Security of their country, must bring their own private health insurance policy. * The nearest private medical center is Hospital Fátima ( Hospital San Juan de Dios ( You will need to bring your ID card an your insurance card. Medical assistance: If you need any medical assistance, do not hesitate to contact us at any time. We will tell you what to do and will go to the doctor with you if necessary. Universidad Loyola Andalucía offers a voluntary school insurance, which approximately amounts to 13 per year which cover students in case of accidents in campus. It will be arranged at Universidad Loyola Andalucía, upon registration. 30
31 9. LOYOLA 30º BUDDY PROGRAM The members of the students group Loyola 30º help international students in their settling into their apartments and other accommodation options. Each international student is assigned to a group of students from the Universidad Loyola Andalucía who will assist them during their stay in Seville. They will be willing to help you to find accommodation, to choose your subjects and they will show you around the city st WEEK ACTIVITIES During the first week of your stay in Seville, students will enjoy several activities organized by the Team. They are free for international students. - Language & Culture Intensive Course. Course at 3 different spanish levels where you will be able to learn about our culture and our langue.
