3 Nowadays, European citizens have a longer life expectancy and 17% are 65 or above. In this evolving scenario, political action is compelling, aimed at improving their quality of life by reducing complications linked to unbalanced diets, inappropriate medications and lack of adherence to medical plans. FederAnziani gathers the main associations, representing the interests of all elderly Italians. Every year, FederAnziani organizes a special initiative dedicated to older people, the Congress of Court of Justice for Health Rights, during which institutional representatives, 2,000 doctors, 5,000 patients and senior citizens discuss about the National Healthcare System in order to improve Policies and implement interventions targeted to address elderly s needs. This year, standing the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, FederAnziani will organize the European Day for Health Rights, headed by the ltalian Minister of Health, Beatrice Lorenzin, and the Dean of the University of Brescia and President of Italian Medicines Agency, Sergio Pecorelli, Sergio Pecorelli. It will be an important event at a European level, in which representatives of institutions, medical-scientific societies and associations of citizens and patients will have the opportunity to meet sharing different visions, initiatives and best practices, with the goal of improving the National Healthcare Systems in the European Union making it more attentive to the urgency of an ageing population.
