9 Learn Edwards MBA values The Edwards MBA is based on a framework of curricular values. By building on a strong business education foundation, the program explores all facets of business. The focus on integration is apparent with a number of modules being dedicated to integrating concepts and knowledge from core courses. Various perspectives are explored throughout the program, with an emphasis on the human side of management and a dedication to the importance of international business. Foundations of management Foundation courses provide the basic theoretical formation of business management concepts and application of that theory upon which the balance of the Edwards MBA curriculum is built. Integrated perspectives of business The essence of successful business and service leadership in today s increasingly diverse and competitive economy requires a higher level of theoretical understanding and practical application it requires leaders who appreciate the fluidity of business and its involvement with social issues, global influences and complex relationships among customers, suppliers, competitors, shareholders, internal and external stakeholders. The Edwards MBA curriculum explores functional business concepts and, more importantly, how they integrate into the decision-making process. The human side of management As globalization and economic integration continues to progress, organizations face increased levels of competition and must ensure the creation and maintenance of a competitive advantage to meet these challenges. For many, the source of this advantage is not based in physical assets but human capital. Understanding the soft side of management and growing your leadership capacity are key elements that are captured within the core curriculum of the Edwards MBA and can be further studied through elective courses. International focus A common theme in almost every sector of today s economy and most business courses is the increasing trend toward globalization. What are the factors to consider in conducting business internationally? How does a company determine the potential benefits and risks of expanding operations or introducing products and services beyond their local borders? What role does culture play in influencing business processes? The Edwards MBA curriculum will expose you to the world of international business through a combination of core and elective courses, including an international study tour.
