9 Shells & Stripes Throw Instructions Skill Level: Throw 44 by 61 plus fringe. Materials: Medium weight yarn: 1 skein each A and B, 2 skeins each C and D. Project shown is stitched with RED HEART Super Saver : 330 Linen A, 360 Café B, 365 Coffee C and 332 Ranch Red D. Crochet Hook: 5.50 mm (US I/9). Extras: Yarn needle. Gauge: 13 sts = 4 ; 6 rows = 4. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the specified gauge. Notes: Leave 7 tails when changing colors at beginning and end of rows to tie into final fringe. Work rows 2-33 on both sides of center (Row 1) as specified. Row 1 establishes Right Side. Alternate right side facing and wrong side facing with each row. Joining Row: Holding Front and Back pieces together with Wrong Sides facing, *insert tip of double-pointed needle through one corner edge stitch of both pieces, pull a loop up and place it on the needle without knitting it, push all sts to the other end of needle, k3, k2tog (one st from needle and one that was picked up at the edge of the pillow cover); repeat from * until three sides are joined. Place the pillow insert into the pillow cover. Repeat Joining Row along remaining side. Bind off all sts, leaving a 6 tail. Sew the beginning and end of I-cord together. Weave in ends. 9
