1 Speech and Language Therapy Apps Based on the Five Domains of Language Language is divided into five domain areas: Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Pragmatics, and Phonology/Phonetics. The American Speech Language Hearing Association ASHA, on their website provides Brief summaries of Clinical Topics in their Practice Portal. In their Brief on Language they review the five domains of language with respect to spoken and written language, listed in the table below. Click on the link to read more about this Brief, Language in Brief. There are many apps in the area of Speech- language Pathology that target a specific domain area or a combination of domain areas. The following list was developed to identify useful apps within each domain area in speech and language. It is always important to remember that each child with speech and language needs is unique and the app selection process should be based on individualized needs. This list is a starting place when looking for resources to use with your individuals with speech and language needs. Includes suffixes, prefixes, compound words, inflections, derivations, verb tense, etc. Receptive understanding of grammatical structure. Expressive use of grammatical structure in words.
