2 Fitting a tri bike Fitting a triathlon bike is a multi-step process that must be performed in the correct sequence to achieve the proper fit. Whether you re new to fitting a bike or have experience fitting road bikes, this guide will help you perform the fit steps in the correct order. Please note that the new Speed Concept geometry is no different from the original Speed Concept, and the sizing follows much the same process as before. Note: This process applies to all MY14 Speed Concept bikes except the 7.0. To fit the 7.0, follow Step 1 and use the size chart to determine the appropriate frame size. Then use standard fit and sizing practices to determine appropriate stem length, rise, and spacers.

Determine saddle height, then position Getting started To complete Steps 1 and 2, you ll need to get the customer on a bike. We recommend that you perform these measurements with your customer on a size cycle. If you don t have a size cycle, you may perform this step using a stock triathlon bike off your floor (estimate the approximate frame size by eye), or use your customer s existing tri bike if available. This may not be the final frame size appropriate for your customer, but it will get you started.

5 Step 2: Measure base bar stack, then reach All measurements assume end of bar at the brake lever insertion point. BASE BAR REACH BASE BAR STACK Easy way to measure base bar stack -Measure from end of bar to ground. -Measure from BB to ground -Subtract BB to ground number -Find closest stem option

6 Step 3: Use size chart to determine frame size and stem 1. Find the column(s) that include desired pad reach. Start with mid-pad ranges (the top row of reach values). Draw a vertical line down from the column(s) 2. Find the row closest to desired pad stack. Draw a horizontal line rightward from the row. 3. Any intersection(s) of reach column and stack row that fall within a monospacer block = correct frame size. Colors inside the monospacer block indicate which monospacer with (+5) or without the pad wing spacer achieves the desired stack. Discard any intersections that don t fall within a monospacer block. If no stack + reach combination intersects within a monospacer block, expand your pad stack selection to include the pad-range row. If that doesn t produce the desired result, expand your stack selection to include the full-range row. 4. Check base bar stack and reach of the frame solution(s) for closest match to desired measurements. If necessary, expand your pad stack selection as noted above. 5. Record frame and stem solutions at bottom of chart.

8 Step 4: Determine saddle height, then position Start with the frame and stem solution indicated by the size chart, with the appropriate pad and bar positioning. SADDLE SETBACK/OFFSET SADDLE HEIGHT Easy way to measure saddle setback/offset -Place back wheel against wall -Measure from wall to saddle tip -Measure from wall to BB -Subtract BB measurement -Negative Number = Saddle Setback -Positive Number = Saddle Forward Offset

9 Seatpost length There are two available lengths: 275mm and 335mm. Seatpost offset The 9 Series seatpost is reversible and comes in two offsets. 15mm: most customers will use this 50mm: used for extreme tri or UCI TT compliant position The 7 Series seatpost is reversible and comes in a 17mm offset.
