That contest tips off at 2 p.m. ET. AGAINST THE BIG TEN At the start of the season, the Irish went on to win 22 straight against Big Ten opposition spanning the next 10 years. It wasn t until the season that they finally dropped a decision to none other than. Since 2009, the Irish are 23-3 against Big Ten foes. ACC/B1G CHALLENGE With a win over No. 14 Iowa last season, the Irish moved to 6-0 in the ACC/B1G Challenge. Past Results 2019: Minnesota - lost : Iowa - won : at Michigan - won : at Iowa - won : Ohio State - won : Maryland - won : Penn State - won The ACC owns a all-time advantage in the Challenge, headlined by three outright titles in the last four years the event has been held. Additionally, the ACC stands a collective against the Big Ten in the Challenge. Twelve of the 14 games will air live on a linear television network, including all seven ACC home games. DOUBLE-DOUBLE DELIGHTS Notre Dame is the only school in the ACC with three different players with double-double performances. Olivia Miles leads the way with two and she s done it two different ways. First Miles secured 16 points & 11 rebounds vs Western Illinois. Then against Bryant, Miles dished out a career high 14 assists, to go with her 14 points. It was the first Irish points/assists double-double since Marina Mabrey (12p/12a) vs UConn in the 2019 National Semifinal. Fellow freshman Sonia Citron earned her first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Fordham on Nov. 18. Citron and Miles are 2 of just 14 freshman guards in the country who have produced at least one double-double, and just 2-of-3 from a power-five conference (other being Shyanne Sellers from Maryland). However, Miles and Niagara s Aaliyah Parker are the only two freshmen guards with at least 2 double-doubles. Lastly, there s Maddy Westbeld, who notched a 15-point, 18-rebound double-double in game two win over Western Illinois. A PAIR OF SUPER FRESHMEN The future of the program is bright with freshmen Sonia Citron and Olivia Miles and both their versatile skill sets. After the first 2 weeks of play, Citron was a 2-time ACC Freshman of the Week award winner. A 6-1 guard at the 3, Citron has been everywhere on the court for Coach Ivey, ranking in the top-5 on the team in points, rebounds, assists and steals. Thus, not only is Citron making early waves for ACC Freshman of the Year but 6th Woman as well. In addition, Citron is 1-of-7 freshmen guards in the entire country averaging at least 9 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. She s also just 1-of-2 in a Power-5, with the other being Olivia Miles. Then there s Olivia Miles, averaging 11.6 points, 6.9 assists and 5.4 rebounds. She is the only player in the country to average at least 11p/5r/6a. And we are certainly not skipping over Miles 6.9 assist average which ranks third in the entire country. Also for reference, the ND single season record is 8.8 apg by Mary Gavin in season. She has scored in double figures in seven straight games, one shy of tying her career high. Maddy is averaging 15.4 ppg and 7.9 rpg. Both averages rank in the top-10 in the ACC. Speaking of streaks, she s made at least one trey in all 7 games, setting a new career high - last season her high streak was set at 6. Next, Maya Dodson, who was named a Second All-Daytona Beach Invitational Team honoree. She scored in double figures both games averaging 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds. M&Ms You ve heard of the Killer B s in a baseball lineup but the Irish are rolling with Team M&Ms this season. Maya - averaging 12.3 points and 8.6 rebounds. She ranks in the top-20 in the country in both blocks and offensive-rebounds/game. Her 8.6 rebounds/game leads the team and ranks 5th in the ACC. Maddy - 7 straight games in double figures (career high is 8). She leads the Irish in scoring (15.4) knocking down 52.8 percent of her shots. Miles - averaging 11.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists, as the latter ranks 3rd in the entire country. Not only that, she s leading the team in double-doubles with two. Mabrey - averaging the third most points (11.9), second most assists (3.6) and second most steals (1.6). Mabrey ranks in the top-15 in the ACC in 6 categories - best of any Irish player. Categories include: Assists, 3PT FG, 3PT FG%, Steals, A/TO Ratio and Minutes SHARING THE WEALTH AND EXECUTING Currently have 4 starters averaging double-figures with 2 bench players in Sonia Citron (9.1 ppg) and Sam Brunelle (8.2 ppg) honing in. The Irish have done a great job spreading the wealth, leading the ACC and ranking 13th in the nation in assists/game (19.3). They have twice this season dished out 30+. Notre Dame is also ranked 17th in the nation in shooting percentage (.474), 14th in defensive rebounds (31.1) and 16th in rebounds/game (45.29). BACK IN THE RANKINGS WITH 1ST RANKED WIN The Irish were presented with an early season test in Daytona with a now ranked Georgia squad (were receiving votes at the time of competition) and then No. 16 Oregon State. Notre Dame ultimately split the two, dropping a overtime game to the Bulldogs before bouncing back with a win over the Beavers. The latter marked Coach Ivey s first AP ranked win at the helm of the program. Also keep in mind it was very close to a 2-0 Daytona trip as neither team scored in the final three minutes of regulation and then ND later boasted a four-point lead in OT that was swung to a four-point defeat. All-in-all, the results led to Notre Dame being back in the rankings since earning a 2020 preseason ranking. CLOSING GAMES OUT At ACC Media Day, Debbie Antonelli asked Dara and Maddy, can this team close out games? Dara talked about the sour taste in her mouth from three leads in ACC play, two by double-digits, that were given away in late-game situations resulting in losses that led to the Irish missing the Big Dance. In the first ACC game of the season, the Irish were up over Syracuse with 8:06 remaining in the game. From that point on they went full throttle, closing the game on a 21-0 scoring run. Westbeld was the catalyst in the quarter scoring nine points, followed by a pair of three s from Mabrey. Case in point in the Fordham win as well - up just with under eight minutes remaining, Westbeld answered the call with five straight points. Later on,

Then there was the Oregon State game. Boasting a 20-point lead against the 16th ranked team in the country, the Irish did everything in their power to hang on and grit out a win. WESTBELD TIES PURCELL RECORD When Westbeld reeled in her career high 18 rebounds against Western Illinois, it tied the Purcell Pavilion single-game rebounding record. Said record has been achieved six times prior, most previously from Devereaux Peters vs USF on 2/25/12. Peters just so happened to be courtside for the Western game. For those wondering, the all-time record is 22 set by Jane Politiski vs Goshen on 2/13/78. BENCH POWER When the final buzzer sounded vs Ohio, the Irish accumulated a total of 44 bench points. That marked the most in the Ivey Era and the most since at least the season (will need to do more research). Citron was a major bench contributor, but the biggest one was Sam Brunelle. The junior recorded 20 points in just 17 minutes of play. She shot an efficient 8-of-10 from the field, including an impressive 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. DROPPIN DIMES LIKE ITS 2013 In the win over Ohio, the Irish accomplished 31 assists on 41 made baskets. The 31 assists were the most since the Irish dished out 31 and defeated UCLA back on Dec. 7, All-in-all, it was only the fourth 30+ assist team performance since that UCLA game. FRESHMAN STARTING AT POINT GUARD Olivia Miles became the first freshman to start at point guard for the season opener since Lindsay Allen in Back in 2013, it was the first time a Fighting Irish rookie point guard started the season opener since Nov. 26, 1994, when Mollie Peirick cracked the lineup and played 38 minutes (two points, five rebounds, three assists) in a overtime loss at No. 25 Seton Hall. A NEW SAM Sam Brunelle has been quite open and candid about the challenges she faced last season and where she s at today. Brunelle faced an injury-riddled sophomore season. She entered the covid year +25 pounds, unable to train properly on bad knees. Fast forward to now and she is down 30 pounds and in the best shape of her life. REMEMBER, REMEMBER, THE WINS OF NOVEMBER Over the past decade, the Irish have found tremendous success in the month of November. In fact, the Irish have gone an impressive 61-7 over the opening month of play. PRESEASON ACCOLADES After earning First Team All-ACC honors a season ago and the Coaches nod for Rookie of the Year, Maddy Westbeld was named Preseason All-ACC for the season. In addition, Westbeld was recently named to the Wooden Award Preseason Watch List as well. The youth movement was on full display with Westbeld the sophomore and Notre Dame s two freshmen making the ACC Newcomer Watch List. When it came to the Naismith position awards, junior Sam Brunelle made the Katrina McClain Watch List for the second consecutive year. The award recognizes the best power forwards in the country. MILESTONE UNLOCKED: 700 When it comes to the Mabrey family, that s a whole lot of buckets. Queens of three some might say. Marina graduated in 2019 as the program s all-time career made three-pointer leader, draining a total of 274. Michaela converted a career total of 228, while Dara now boasts 198. And with Dara s third trey vs Ohio on Nov. 9, it was career three-pointer No. 700 for the Mabrey sisters. They currently sit at 712.

The education and degree from Notre Dame speaks for itself. One of the most important things was the family atmosphere that I felt when I was with the girls. It was amazing. ALUMNI SUCCESS - WNBA AND OLYMPICS The irish dominated the WNBA and Olympic scene this past summer. Arike Ogunbowale was the WNBA All-Star game MVP after scoring 26 points, including 5-of-10 from three, beating the USA Olympic team. Skylar Diggins-Smith and Brianna Turner reached the WNBA Finals. Next, Ogunbowale earned Second Team All-WNBA honors while Diggins-Smith and Jewell Loyd earned First Team distinction. Speaking of Diggins-Smith and Loyd, the Irish duo earned the gold medal with Team USA in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. And speaking of the Olympics, Jackie Young earned gold with the USA 3x3 team. The Irish now boast 5 Olympians and 4 gold medalist in program history. CITRON EARNS GOLD AS WELL Freshman Sonia Citron got some international experience before preseason began, earning gold with the U19 Team USA squad at the 2021 FIBA World Cup. Citron averaged USA second bests of 14.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg overall in Hungary. As a result, she was named to the World Cup All-Star Five Team.

8 8 NIELE IVEY KAREN & KEVIN KEYES HEAD COACH 2ND SEASON 13 COMBINED YEARS AS A COACH 18 COMBINED YEARS ON CAMPUS IG & IVEY BIO One of the finest point guards ever to wear the Notre Dame uniform, Niele Ivey (first name pronounced knee-l) was announced as the fourth Karen & Kevin Keyes Family Head Women s Basketball Coach on April 22, 2020, just mere minutes after Muffet McGraw stepped down from her post after a Hall of Fame career. Ivey is the common link to all nine of the program s Final Four appearances, two as a player and seven as an assistant coach, logging a combined 18 years on Notre Dame s campus (13 as a coach and five as a player). I am so honored to be able to follow in the legacy that Coach McGraw built here at Notre Dame, Ivey stated. My love and appreciation for Coach McGraw is beyond anything I can express. She s more than a mentor, more than a friend, she s one of the most influential people in my life. I am full of gratitude for Coach McGraw and what she has done for me. She was the first to give me an opportunity to play for Notre Dame and coach here as well. I will forever be grateful for her love and support. I would also like to thank Jack Swarbrick and Father Jenkins for having the faith to move this program forward with me. I can never thank you enough for this incredible opportunity. In her first year at the helm, Ivey not only had to balance settling into her new role with a young roster but also navigating the waters of both a national pandemic and a country battling systemic racism. In a shortened season due to Covid-19, Ivey s squad went (8-7), all while using their platform to make their voices heard. Also, on her first week on the job, Coach Ivey received verbals from freshmen Sonia Citron and Olivia Miles, who made up a top-five nationally ranked recruiting class. As an assistant, the Irish went (.875) during Ivey s time patrolling the sidelines. Notre Dame s recent decade of dominance ( ) had Ivey s handprints all over it no other program had produced more trips to the national title game (six), and the Irish posted the third-most wins in that span as well (339). That decade also consisted of 14 conference championships (eight regular-season plus six tournament titles split between the BIG EAST and ACC), seven Final Fours and a 2018 national championship. Ivey expanded her basketball prowess when she stepped away from Notre Dame to accept an assistant coaching position with the Memphis Grizzlies for the season. Ivey proved to be a true trailblazer, becoming the ninth active female coach in the NBA. Over that year, Ivey helped develop a young team, with a new coaching staff, into a playoff contender. Ivey worked with several different position groups with the Grizzlies, but primarily with standout guards Jarien Jackson and Ja Morant, as the latter won 2020 NBA Rookie of the Year honors. Ivey originally joined the Fighting Irish women s basketball coaching staff in May 2007 (she added the title of recruiting coordinator in 2012 and was promoted to associate head coach in the summer of 2015). Ivey went on to spend 12 seasons under Coach McGraw before departing for the Memphis Grizzlies. Over her last eight years in particular as an assistant, Notre Dame ranked in the top-12 in field goal percentage (led the country in season), scoring offense and assists. In fact, Notre Dame s offense over its backto-back title game runs in 2018 and 2019 was one for the record books. The 2018 championship squad ranked in the top five in all the aforementioned categories. Meanwhile, the 2019 Irish took home the statistical championship for top-scoring offense in the country, averaging a program-record 88.6 points per game. In addition, they broke the program record for assists (804) while finishing second in shooting percentage (50.8 percent). The stat that is the icing on the cake to all of this the 2019 starting five of Ogunbowale, Mabrey, Shepard, Turner and Young went down as the most prolific scoring fivesome in the history of NCAA Division I basketball (men s or women s), amassing an astonishing 10,230 combined career points. In addition to her achievements in player development with such proteges as All-Americans Skylar Diggins, Jewell Loyd, Lindsay Allen and Arike Ogunbowale, Ivey emerged as a rising star on the recruiting trail, with a sharp eye for young up-and-coming talent. In fact, she helped Notre Dame attract top-12 incoming classes in nine of her last 10 years. In her last class, Coach Ivey nabbed No. 6 Samantha Brunelle and No. 18 Anaya Peoples. Fast forward to now and Coach Ivey nabbed a top-five recruiting class in year one. six years as an assistant, she was directly responsible for creating the game plans that led to victories over Duke (12 times), Tennessee (8 times), Florida State (7 times), Connecticut (5 times), Maryland (three times), Louisville (8 times), Syracuse (7 times), UCLA (three times), Baylor (twice), Texas A&M (3 times) and South Carolina, among many others. In fact, Notre Dame is 5-3 all-time against UConn in the NCAA Tournament, which more than doubles the next best team s win total. Overall, over her last 12 years, the Irish have knocked off the Huskies nine times, while all other Division I teams combined for 10 wins. All things considered, it was no surprise when Ivey was chosen as the inaugural recipient of the Women s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division I National Assistant Coach of the Year award in Most notable players under Ivey s tutelage: Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd and Skylar Diggins-Smith. Ogunbowale was a two-time All-American, two-time Ann Meyers Drysdale Award finalist and the 2018 Final Four MVP after her famous Ice Twice. Ogunbowale graduated as the program s all-time leading scorer. Ivey helped mold Loyd into one of the country s top players from Loyd finished with 1,909 points and a 17.0 career points-per-game average. Loyd s best performances came against Top 25 teams, in which she averaged 22.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, including a school record-tying 41 at DePaul. Then there s Skylar Diggins-Smith. Under Ivey s guidance, Diggins-Smith made a seamless transition from shooting guard to point guard during her final three seasons, emerging as one of the nation s elite players to become one of just three two-time recipients of the Lieberman Award and a two-time consensus first-team All-America and BIG EAST Player of the Year selection. Diggins-Smith graduated in 2013 as the holder (or co-holder) of no fewer than 32 game, season or career records at Notre Dame, and ranks among the top five on an astounding 105 of the program s game, season or career charts. Ivey sat out most of her freshman season at Notre Dame ( Final Four campaign) after suffering a season-ending knee injury five games in. However, she was awarded a fifth year of eligibility in and made the most of it, earning third-team AP All-America honors, the first Fighting Irish point guard to be so recognized. She also was the recipient of the 2001 Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award (nation s top senior player standing 5-foot-8 or under) and was a finalist for the 2001 Lieberman Award. In addition, Ivey made the 2001 NCAA Women s Final Four All-Tournament Team after averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 steals per game as the Fighting Irish defeated Connecticut and Purdue to win their first national title. All told, Notre Dame went (.832) during Ivey s last four seasons, reaching the NCAA Sweet 16 three times (1998, 2000, 2001) and rolling up a (then) school-record 34 wins in The Fighting Irish also won a share of their first BIG EAST regular-season championship in and were ranked in the top 10 of either or both the Associated Press and WBCA/USA Today polls for all but two weeks during her final three campaigns. While at Notre Dame, Ivey was a three-time all-big EAST selection ( ), collecting first-team honors in 2001, and was tapped as the BIG EAST Player of the Week five times. She also led the Fighting Irish in steals in each of her final four seasons ( to ) and was the team s assist leader in her last three years, setting school records with 95 steals in (since topped by Diggins) and 247 assists in , along with a school-standard 2.67 assist/turnover ratio the latter season. Ivey went on to play five seasons in the WNBA, beginning with her selection by the Indiana Fever in the second round (17th overall pick) of the 2001 WNBA Draft. She spent four seasons with the Fever, helping them to the first playoff berth in franchise history in Ivey signed with the Detroit Shock as a restricted free agent in 2005, and subsequently was acquired by the Phoenix Mercury later that season. A native of St. Louis, Ivey graduated from Notre Dame s College of Arts and Letters in 2000 with a bachelor s degree in history. What s more, Ivey displayed brilliant prowess when it came to scouting and in-game strategy. In her last
