1 PRESS RELEASE Christopher Protsman Chief of Police Released: Wednesday September 8, 2021 POLICE BLOTTER Monday August 16, hrs Officers stopped a vehicle on Lamme Rd at Lehigh and arrested Michael D. Saunders, w/m/23, for OVI. He was also issued several traffic citations hrs Units responded to 1679 Beaver Ridge for the report of a family problem. Upon arrival, it was learned that Gregory E. Smith B/M/30 had assaulted his live in girlfriend, who is pregnant with their baby. Officers placed Smith into custody for Domestic Violence and transported him to the KPD jail hrs Officers conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for a moving violation. The driver, Ruben Escobar H/M/26, had an active Dayton warrant for No OL, and Drug Possession. Escobar was arrested and transported to the KPD jail hrs Officers were on a traffic stop on Tabor at Ashmore, when a patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Amanda L. Deneca W/F/42, was showing signs of impairment, and refused SFST s. Upon arrival at the KPD jail, Deneca provided a sample of.248 on the BAC Datamaster hrs Officers stopped a vehicle at Kettering Blvd and Stroop and arrested Mirachayala D. Maccabee, w/f/29, for OVI

2 Tuesday August 17, hrs. Crews were dispatched to 4579 Wilmington on a fire assist. Norman D. Ferguson W/M/65 was at this location and unable to get off the floor where he had fallen. He admitted that he had taken several Xanax that did not belong to him. He was issued a summons for Disorderly Conduct and transported to the hospital hrs. Officers were dispatched to 515 Telford on a family problem. Upon arrival they located and arrested Robert R. Free (W/M/36) for DC/PI hrs 1929hrs Officers stopped a vehicle on Dutchess and Smithville for a moving violation. As a result Tawanna Collins, w/f/47, was arrested on a Dayton Capias Officers stopped a vehicle on Dorothy and Shroyer for a moving violation. Shawn M. Phillips, w/m/39, was arrested on a warrant through Fairborn PD. He was also issued a summons for possession of drug abuse instruments hrs Officers stopped a vehicle on Patterson at Carillon Blvd and arrested Samantha R. Williams, w/f/45, on felony warrant. She was also issued several citations for traffic violations hrs Officers responded to 1224 E. Stroop on a trespass. Officers arrived and issued a summons to Ricky M. Perry, w/m/60, for trespass hrs Officers responded to 1685 Beaver Ridge for a family problem. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two suspects, and the female half attempted to leave the scene. Kedaja Johnson B/F/20 was arrested for Obstruction, OVI, and Resisting Arrest. Johnson was transported to the KPD jail Wednesday August 18, hrs 1842hrs Officers responded to 1401 Elmdale Ave on an alarm. Upon his arrival he found the female homeowner on scene with a male, later identified as Christopher Moore W/M/35. Officers determined that Moore was violating a no contact order through Kettering Municipal Courts. A very short time later Moore ran out of the back of the house and after a short foot pursuit was taken into custody by officers for a probation violation and obstructing official business Officers responded to the Middletown City Jail to take custody of a prisoner with a Kettering Warrant. Upon arrival, officers took custody of

3 Joshua M. Floyd, w/m/47, for an original charge of criminal trespass. The subject was transported to the Kettering Jail without incident hrs 2308hrs Officers were dispatched to the area of E. Stroop Road and Marshall Road for a suspicious person. Upon making contact, it was determined that Kevin J. Vancil II, w/m/28, had an active FTA warrant entered by Trotwood PD for an original charge of Theft. Vancil was transported to the KPD jail without incident Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Wilmington Pike and Betz Crossing for an equipment violation. Upon making contact with the occupants, it was determined that the passenger was a listed protected person from the driver. The protection order was confirmed and Bret K. Northrop, w/m/33, was arrested for violation of the protection order without incident hrs Officers conducted a traffic stop on Smithville at Patterson for a registration violation. The driver, Melissa Bennet W/F/53, had an active warrant from MCSO for a Probation Violation. Bennet was transported to the KPD jail Thursday August 19, hrs 1647hrs 2000hrs Officers were dispatched to the area of Bigger Rd/Westlawn Dr on report of an intoxicated male passed out in the grass. Officers located the highly intoxicated male and identified him as Julio Rojas-Diaz H/M/28. He found was unable to care for himself and was arrested for disorderly conduct Multiple officers were dispatched to the intersection of Smithville Rd/Wilmington Pk for a crash with injuries. Incident to the traffic crash investigation, officers found the driver, Jonathan Burke W/M/49, was not injured and admittedly had a lot to drink prior to the crash. Burke was charged with OVI, OVI test refusal, and failure to control Officers were dispatched to 2700 Haig Ave in reference to a disturbance. Incident to the investigation Jamie Brown W/F/43 was arrested on an active warrant through Moraine PD. During a search incident to the arrest Brown indicated she had fentanyl in a rolled up dollar bill located in her bra. Officers completed a report on the drug possession. She was transported to the Kettering Jail without incident hrs Officers conducted a stop on Cardington Dr for a moving violation. The passenger, Brandy Wilson W/F/34 had an active Fairborn warrant for OVI. Wilson was arrested and transported to the KPD jail

4 2153 hrs Officers responded to Oakland and W Dorothy for the report of a traffic crash. Upon arrival, they learned that Ryan S. Rakenstraw W/M/44 had wrecked his car into a parked vehicle. Rakenstraw was showing signs of intoxication and submitted to a few SFST s. He was arrested for OVI and transported to the KPD jail where he provided a BAC sample of hrs Officers conducted a traffic stop on Stroop at Woodman for a moving violation. The passenger, Edward Greenstein W/M/49, had an active warrant out of Riverside PD for FTA/DUS. Greenstein was arrested and transported to the KPD jail Friday August 20, hrs 0535hrs Officers were dispatched to Patterson Blvd/Schantz Ave on report of a H&R crash with an impaired driver that just left the scene. Officers arrested the driver Kent O. Peters W/M/41 for OVI, leaving the scene of an accident x2, reckless operation on private property. He refused the Intoxilyzer test at the Jail. The front passenger, Wesley Peters W/M/43 was found to be highly intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested for disorderly conduct & Officers were dispatched to 605 Mossoak on a disorderly subject. Matthew P. Kindell, W/M/43, had been previously warned in the shift for disorderly behavior. Kindell exited his apartment and was yelling profane language towards the complainant. Kindell was arrested for disorderly conduct Saturday August 21, hrs. Officers were sent on an overdose at 3401 Woodman Dr. #212. Suspect was identified as Daniel L. Hamilton (W/M/40) and found to have an active warrant through MCSO for probation violation. After treatment he was taken into custody and transported to jail hrs. Officers conducted a trespassing complaint from an address on Vale Dr. Through his investigation he was able to identify a suspect, Jason M. McHone (W/M/38). McHone was located at his mother s apartment, 2280 Ketwood Pl. Apt. C and taken into custody on an outstanding warrant from Pennsylvania. He was also issued a summons for Trespassing and Criminal Mischief

5 2253 hrs Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Crauder and Stockton. The driver, Kailin O. Carter (B/M/25) was found to have a felony warrant through MCSO for a weapons offense. Upon search of the vehicle, a small baggie with a white powder substance was located. Carter was charged with Drug Possession (F5) Sunday August 22, hrs Officers were dispatched to an address on Far Hills for a deceased subject. A B/F/88 was found deceased. There was no evidence of foul play, resulting in the coroner releasing the body to the family hrs. Officers were working uniformed patrol when a vehicle operating in the area of Utica and Waterbury that was occupied by a suspect in a DV the prior night. The vehicle was stopped and the suspect, Anthony L. Ditallo (W/M/43), was found to be the driver. He was arrested for DV and transported to the Kettering Jail where he was served with his copy of the affidavit hrs. Officers responded to 604 Schuyler on a disturbance. There, officers located an unwanted subject, Carl J. Renshaw (W/M/54), in the garage. Mr. Renshaw was highly intoxicated walking around in his underwear after urinating on the floor. The complainant was a family member who stated Mr. Renshaw suffers from PTSD and added that his mental health was deteriorating. Mr. Renshaw was transported to the VA Hospital for a mental health evaluation and issued a summons for DC/PI hrs. Officers were dispatched to the area of Hazel and Culver for a male chasing a female on foot. They were located and officers identified the male as Chad W. Price (W/M/45). He was found to have an active DPD warrant and was taken into custody. Mr. Price was transported to the jail where he was incarcerated hrs. Officers made contact with a suspicious male on a bike with no lights or brakes in the 2900 block of S. Dixie Dr. The male was identified as Brian A. Duff (W/M/42). A warrant through Riverside PD for FTC- Child Enticement was confirmed and Mr. Duff was taken into custody. During the arrest, Mr. Duff admitted to having drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession. Suspected methamphetamine and a pipe were taken as evidence. He was transported to the Kettering Jail where he claimed Covid. He was OR d pending lab results and Riverside issued a new court date for the warrant
