The programme offered in Hong Kong targets executives and leaders with undergraduate qualifications to enable them to obtain the Master s within a minimum period of 24 months. While CBLU is responsible for the programme's design, academic delivery, student assessment and academic accreditation, the CAPS is responsible mainly for local administration, pastoral and other teaching and learning support for the Programme. Formerly known as Caritas Francis Hsu College, Caritas Institute of Higher Education is an Approved Post-Secondary College registered under the Post-Secondary Colleges Ordinance (CAP 320) in Hong Kong for the delivery of higher education programmes. 3 Programme Aims and Objectives The Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme develops graduates capable of adding value to organizations and society through the application of theory and practice. The programme provides knowledge delivered through a coordinated and integrated curriculum taught by faculty members committed to excellence in their professions and academic concentrations. Graduates of the MBA programme will be able to: engage a business problem head-on and make an informed and implementable decision based on a thorough analysis of the situation from multiple perspectives. analyze the value proposition of a firm s marketplace offerings, understand the strategic fit of the firm, and create a comprehensive plan to deliver customer value. act with a managerial perspective, synthesize information from many varied sources, communicate business information persuasively, and influence others to achieve goals. confront ethical dilemmas with a balanced and coherent perspective, apply a principled method for responding to ethical issues, and reflect on bias in their ethical decisions. Programme Structure The programme consists of 17 units listed as follows: Foundation Units (6 units) F1* Managerial Communication F2* Financial Accounting F3 Management F4 Financial Management F5 Statistics F6 Economics * Only Managerial Communication (F1) and Financial Accounting (F2), will be offered by CBLU teaching staff on location at CIHE. Other foundation units can be satisfied via online courses offered by Loyola or waiver exams. 4 Mode of Study The Programme is delivered via the following modes: 1. Lectures & Tutorials: Teaching staff from CBLU will conduct intensive faceto-face lectures and tutorials for all units of the programme (31-hour lectures and 3-hour tutorial per unit). The classes will combine traditional classroom teaching with other teaching methods, including case study analysis, professional presentations, seminars, site visits, and experiential exercises. 2. Self-active Learning Sessions: Self-active learning sessions are supported by compre -hensive and quality study packages provided by the university 2-3 weeks in advance of commencement of each unit. The study package consists of the unit mate -rials, a unit outline, and a list of relevant readings and assignments. Students have to incorporate at least 7 hours in their study plan for self-active learning for each unit. Duration and Schedule The normal period of time for successful completion of the Programme is 24 months of part-time study. One unit will be offered in each month. Each unit will include five days of classroom instruction which will be scheduled as below, Week 1 - Saturday Week 1 - Sunday Wednesday in between Week 2 - Saturday Week 2 - Sunday Week 4 Full Day Full Day 6 9 pm Full Day Full Day Examination Eleven to twelve units will be offered in each academic year.

5 Learning Support & Facilities Students enrolled in the Programme will be provided with the following learning support: a University-developed comprehensive study package will be provided for each module. The study package consists of module specifications, lecture handouts, tutorial materials, assessment tasks and a list of recommended readings. access to the electronic library of Loyola University New Orleans. access to the web-based learning environment as well as student learning support services of the University. a collection of recommended textbooks and references for the Programme is available at the Institute library. This is regularly updated to include the most recent relevant publications. access to library, language centre, student study room, computer facilities, information technology facilities and sport facilities of CIHE. Accreditation The MBA Programme is accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Admission Requirements A Bachelor Degree of an approved university or its equivalent; AND Applicants are generally required to take the GMAT or the GRE to be considered for admission, Scores older than five years are accepted. The Admission Committee will consider favorably other qualities of the applicants such as work experiences; AND English language proficiency should reach a minimum level of - IELTS a score of 6.5 or above; OR - TOEFL - a score of 580 or above (paper-based); or 237 or above (computer-based); or 92 or above (internet-based) For applicants with over five years of work experience can be used to offset lower TOEFL or GMAT score. Application Procedure 1.Application for admission can be made only on the University application form. 2.The application form can be obtained by phone, fax or mail from CIHE CAPS, Room 308, 18 Chui Ling Road, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories, Hong Kong. 3.The duly completed application form and Informed Consent/ Privacy Declaration form must be submitted in person, to be accompanied by: (a) copies of supporting certificates, diplomas and relevant transcripts as evidence of academic and professional qualifications obtained for certification purpose, (b) copy of HKID card or passport, (c) a recent passport-sized photograph and (d) a non-refundable application fee of HK$ (payable by cash/ cheque and made payable to Caritas Hong Kong ).

6 MBA A4 P6.pdf 2014/7/9 U È 04:53:37 Tuition Fees and Mode of Payment The tuition fee is set at HK$12,000 per foundation unit and HK$15,500 per main unit, which covers instruction, study materials, tutorials/workshops, examinations, information transmission services, certification and official transcript and access to Institute facilities and University online learning platform. The total tuition fees are HK$194,500 for 13 units. Tuition fees are subject to review. Students who do not complete their studies within four consecutive semesters are subject to any fee increase applied to the semesters at a later stage. Tuition fees are payable in advance in four instalments and should be paid four weeks before the commencement of semester. Payment of tuition fees is made by Cashier s Order or crossed cheque made payable to "Caritas - Hong Kong", which should be forwarded to the Programme Officer at CAPS, CIHE. Tuition fees paid will not be refunded unless there is a premature cancellation of the programme, in which case refund will be made one month after the scheduled beginning of the semester. Closing Dates for Application All applications must be submitted to CAPS of CIHE on or before the closing date, which are 30 November for intake in January every year. Commencement Date The commencement date for the MBA Programme are set for January every year. Career Prospects and Further Studies The MBA degree from Loyola University New Orleans is widely recognized by employers worldwide as a legitimate master degree. It is accepted by all employers who require a master degree from the US in order to qualify for a job position. In addition, it can be used as academic credential to satisfy master degree requirement for doctorate degree, such as PhD in Business or DBA, in the US.

Students taking the Programme in Hong Kong are assessed by the same method and on the same basis as other CBLU students studying in United States. All assessments are marked by CBLU teaching team. In order to graduate, students must satisfactorily complete or waive the 17 units. Unit Descriptions Foundation Units (6 units) F1 Managerial Communication This unit improves various presentation skills of students including but not limited to business writing skills (memos, executive summaries, business letters and persuasive proposals), etiquette skills (i.e., Dinner Etiquette), coaching skills, presentation skills and nonverbal communication skills (i.e., Dress Etiquette). It also assists students to understand their communication preferences, strengths and challenges. F2 Financial Accounting This unit is designed to aid non-accounting MBA students in working with and interpreting financial accounting data in a meaningful professional manner. Accounting activities and function will be introduced and use of financial information will be stressed to a great extent. Ethical decision making will be discussed throughout the unit. C F3 Management M This unit provides students with a fundamental understanding of the basic functional areas of management, organizational behavior and strategic decision making from a manger s point-of-view. It provides much of the basic theory upon which the remainder of MBA coursework will build. Four general managerial functions: planning, organizing, leading and controlling will be covered. The learning experiences the students will be exposed are applicable for all types of positions in all types of organizations in which students may eventually find themselves. Y CM MY CY CMY K F4 Financial Management This unit introduces the basic principles of discounting and thinking in present-value terms, financial analysis, valuation and decision making. The goal of the unit is to cause students to think in terms of present values of alternative courses of action so that they can choose the proper course of action which can profittheir organizations by the greatest amount without violation of law or ethical. This unit is an introduction to the statistics used in business. Topics to be covered are sources and collection of business data; describing data with tables, graphs and numerical measures; random sampling; probability concepts necessary to use random samples to make inferences; the use of confidence limits; the use of hypothesis tests to analysis of variance to discover differences in the means of two or more sample groups; and correlation and linear regression to discover how two variables are related. F6 Economics This unit covers topics on introduction of economic analysis; efficiency and equity; production and exchange; costs, supply and demand; markets, organizations and governmental competition; cooperation and coercion, and international trade.

8 Core Units (11 units) A1 Marketing Management This unit prepares executives and those aspiring to be leaders to permeate a customer focus throughout the organization. The unit addresses how marketing activities and customer orientations impact all aspects of company systems. The purpose of the unit is to prepare leaders to use marketing skills and expertise in creating overall performance excellence in an organization. A2 Management Science and Operations This unit introduces fundamental quantitative approaches for decision making in the field of operations management. Students will learn how to use theoretical and quantitative tools to enhance their ability to analyze real world problems, identify possible solutions, and make right decisions to achieve performance excellence in operations. A3 Advanced Financial Management This unit advances the student s knowledge and comprehension of financial management by providing a deeper understanding of the theory, practice and application of the principles of business finance. The unit emphasizes the application of financial theory by giving the student a framework for analyzing and recommending alternative solutions to business financial problems, special emphasis will be on financial decision-making that requires integrating the core finance areas of corporate finance, investments, portfolio management and multinational finance. The unit will combine application to real life cases with theoretical concepts. A5 Ethical and Legal Responsibilities This unit is to create a learning community for exploring leadership practice in market-driven organizations where ethical and legal responsibility are prominent. It will explore the value-based leadership of students and leadership style and abilities of each student. Leadership requirements with respect to the Baldrige Criteria will also be examined. A6 Global Supply Chain Management In this unit, global supply chain management will be approached from the point of view of a general manger. International logistics and global supply chain management is about managing the hand-offs in a supply chain within a global setting. This unit will introduce how logistical decisions affect the performance of the company as well as the entire supply chain. A7 Management Control and Decision Making This unit covers the preparation of accounting information with a primary emphasis on meeting the needs of internal users. Topics include product/service costing methods, activity-based costing, cost-volume-profit analysis, budgeting, responsibility accounting, performance measurement and evaluation and capital budgeting decisions. A4 Leadership Dynamics This unit helps students to develop the skills to analyze and address leadership challenges, opportunities and knowledge to create a sustainable organization with world class performance. Central ideas and frameworks in the field of Leadership will be covered and students will be required to apply them on organizational performance and sustainability analysis. Concepts and constructs presented in the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence (CPE) will be examined and put into application.

9 CAP Global Strategy This unit integrates the student s academic and professional experiences with the purpose of enhancing their capacity to formulate and implement successful global strategies. Its basic methods are discussion of cases and a project. The cases focus on the skills, knowledge, and expertise appropriate to a leader s role, functions, and expected contributions to the corporation and society at large. Students will enhance their capacity to creatively identify alternative courses of action; objectively and thoroughly assess these options pros and cons; and convincingly argue and support their conclusions and recommendations. E2 Private Equity Investing This unit examines topics including evaluation of business models; valuations and due diligence of new ventures; process and mechanics of new venture equity funding. This unit will focus on the role of consultants, critical evaluation of the effectiveness of business models presented, the scope of angel investing, the stages of seeking equity funding and performing due diligence of potential investments. This is an integrative unit that includes the study of marketing, management, production and operations, insurance, economics, human resources, business law and decision methods - as they apply to new ventures. E1 Derivatives This unit provides students with the knowledge and comprehension of financial derivative instruments by providing theory, practice and application. Future, forward, option and swap contracts will be discussed in detail as they apply to stocks, interest rates, foreign exchange, commodities and credits. Also, for each type of derivative instrument, underlying risk exposure, pricing, market specifications will be discussed. Different trading strategies using futures as well as options will be provided with actual market information. Special emphasis is on the actual usage of derivative with real markets for hedging and speculating purpose. E3 Workforce Performance Systems This unit is to apply the System Thinking and Learning paradigm to human resource management, such that students will enhance their ability to analyze real world problems, identify possible solutions, and make right decisions to align the work force with the organizational aim and processes.
