2 Introduction and Background to the scheme shire County Council Trading Standards Services has recently seen a significant increase in the number of complaints received regarding gardening work. The majority of issues relate to poor workmanship, non-completion of work and over-pricing. Also the customers that seem to have been targeted by these traders are often elderly. As a result of this, it was decided to launch a scheme aimed at gardeners and handypersons that carry out minor garden and household maintenance and repairs. The following traders have been accepted onto the scheme thus far and we hope to attract more businesses in the near future. Please note the following before contacting any of the traders on the list: The undertakings by the traders have been accepted in good faith. Inclusion of a trader on the list does not mean that the Council guarantees the work or accepts any responsibility for any aspect of the work or any agreement made with the customer. The list is not divided into areas as most of the traders do travel from their home base. The success of the register depends upon consumer support and feedback. Please complete the feedback questionnaire supplied to you by a registered trader, or let us know if the trader fails to do this.
