1 corporate.airfrance.com/en February 2012 The Air France offensive on departure from the French regions In the fall of 2011, Air France launched a major commercial offensive in France s regions that includes re-organization of its network, aircraft optimization, improved human resource productivity and new routes in France, Europe and the Mediterranean. The new business model will benefit Air France customers through attractive fare offers made possible by reduced operating costs while continuing to enjoy the products and services that are the brand s stamp of recognition in the market. The commercial offensive, deployed in Marseille beginning in October 2011, has shown very encouraging operational results and will be followed with new destinations and additional flights. Based on this initial success, the company will be extending this new model in 2012 to Toulouse and Nice in the spring, to be followed by Bordeaux. By the end of March 2012, Air France will operate more than 1,200 flights weekly from Marseille, Toulouse and Nice. Air France is tackling significant challenges: the company is renewing its short- and medium-haul business model to strengthen its competitiveness and continue to develop its business. The company possesses considerable strengths with which to succeed: professional and motivated teams, a new fleet and a constantly developing network. Air France is applying all of its expertise and professionalism to this commercial offensive in France, Europe and the Mediterranean in order to initiate a virtuous circle that will allow its medium-haul business to return to profitable growth, the foundation of Air France-KLM Group s strategy.
2 Air France s regional offensive Air France s regional offensive The commercial offensive involves significant development of Air France activity in the regions. The company will increase the number of seats it offers by more than 30% through: opening nearly 50 new routes, over time, from four regional cities (Marseille, Toulouse, Nice and Bordeaux) to major European cities and the Mediterranean. These new routes, aimed particularly at leisure customers, will be served through several weekly flights; increasing capacity on existing domestic routes, with up to as many as 80% more seats. Ultimately, with departures from Marseille, Toulouse, Nice and Bordeaux, the Air France network will include: domestic flights, including the Paris-Orly Shuttle and flights to the Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Lyon hubs, flights to European destinations and the Mediterranean. 3 What excatly does this new strategy involve? What exactly does this new strategy involve? Strategy implementation entails a significant reduction in operating costs, of around 15%. This cost reduction will enable Air France to capture new markets through an offer that is attractive both in terms of destinations and product offerings at unprecedented prices. Several elements will contribute to reducing costs: > A homogenous fleet At Marseille, Nice and Toulouse, Air France will deploy 10 Airbus A320-type mediumhaul aircraft with 142 to 178 seats. The use of such aircraft will enable Air France to optimize fuel efficiency and streamline servicing and maintenance costs. > Aircraft optimization The duration of daily aircraft use will be optimized, increasing from 8:15 currently to 11:30, representing a gain in productivity of around 40%. This optimization is achieved:. with departures earlier in the morning and returns later in the evening,. by reducing turn-around time at stops by five minutes (30 minutes for the A319 and 35 minutes for the A320). > Flight crews based in regions The flights crews from Toulouse and Nice will now be regionally based. To implement this new strategy, Air France is asking for volunteers from among its commercial and technical crews. Volunteering crew members will work more hours over fewer days. Cabin crews will work an average of 650 hours annually and slightly less than 120 days. Pilots will fly an average of 715 hours annually, spread across slightly less than 130 days. This will enable Air France to reduce its cost per flight hour by approximately 15 to 20%, including the savings made on the costs of stops and hotels, as crews will return home at the end of each rotation. This new organization should be agreeable in particular to the crew members who already live in these regions and who previously had to travel to Paris to perform their shifts. > Greater efficiency in ground operations through additional activity For ground teams, the additional activity provided by this project will allow better utilization of human resources and equipment throughout the day and thus lower production costs. To achieve turn-arounds in 30 to 35 minutes, strong coordination has been established between ground teams and cabin crews. After first ensuring flight safety, the objective is to reduce the time between the arrival of the aircraft, the disembarking of passengers and the loading and departure of the aircraft. This increase in Air France s activity in the regions also solidifies the company s position as a significant employer in these areas. With more sustained activity in Marseille, Toulouse, Nice and Bordeaux, Air France will benefit from productivity gains that will help reduce production costs. For each aircraft based in the regions, two crews consisting of a captain, a co-pilot (first officer) and four cabin crew on A320 s (three cabin crew on A319 s) are required. 650 flight crew volunteers and 350 volunteer pilots will be based eventually in the regions. 3

8 Shuttle marks 15 years of service...already! Shuttle marks 15 years of service...already! For 15 years, the Air France Shuttle has connected Paris-Orly airport to the four most popular destinations in France: Bordeaux, Marseille, Nice and Toulouse. Since the Shuttle s inception in 1996, more than 84 million passengers have traveled along its four routes. Shuttle, 15 years already! With 77 daily flights and transporting 5 million passengers per year, the Shuttle has established itself as an efficient service and a well-tailored response to the needs of both business and leisure travelers, offering three major advantages: smoothness, speed and simplicity. In addition to the Air France service offered throughout its network, Shuttle passengers benefit from exclusive services: > A fluid and flexible offer With numerous scheduled flights throughout the day, every hour, or every 15 minutes during peak hours, the Shuttle offers a wide variety of schedules to meet all needs. In addition, passengers who benefit from flexible fares have the opportunity to arrive in advance at the airport and depart on an earlier flight (subject to availability). > A quick and easy route, for departure and arrival For passengers in a hurry, Air France has positioned the departure and arrival halls for Shuttle flights close to parking facilities and marked them with specific signage. To allow even more speed, check-in time is the shortest of the network, just 20 minutes before departure. On arrival, baggage is also given preferential treatment. The sorting system of checked baggage and the routing circuit have been perfected for faster delivery. Even at peak times, Shuttle passengers avoid the wait. > Comfort at Paris-Orly At Paris-Orly, the comfort of a 265 m 2 mezzanine lounge with 135 seats is available for Shuttle passengers who are members of Flying Blue Gold or Platinum or the SkyTeam Elite Plus program, as well as connecting First and Business class passengers. With marble floors, this space of glass and light is equipped with leather seats, a bar and more than 10 television screens with airport programming (weather, news, etc.) to make each step of the journey a pleasant one.
