Properties of fluoroplastics is an unbranched linear polymer composed of carbon, fluorine and characterised by extraordinary properties. It is resistant to almost all chemicals. Due to the extremely stable bond between the fluorine and carbon atoms and the near-complete screening of the chain of carbon atoms by the fluorine atoms, is almost universally resistant to chemicals. Only hydrocarbon compounds containing fluorine and molten alkali metals lead to swelling of or to a limited chemical reaction of the surface. There is no water absorption, not even after an extended period of exposure. Even under extreme climatic conditions, proves to be weatherresistant to a practically unlimited degree. 6 Diaphragms Diaphragms Chemical resistance to aggressive fluids, flexibility and a long service life are the characteristics most frequently demanded of diaphragm materials and designs. diaphragms are used in metering equipment, in the pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs industries, in pumps for the chemical industry and in painting plants. The stroke of the diaphragm is determined by the shape and design of the beads, as well as by its effective diameter. Specially treated sheets and sheets made of modified (TFM) are used to prolong the service life. elastomer diaphragms are suitable for applications where severe loads are common (pressure, fluids, stroke). The forces that result from deformations are absorbed by the elastomer (e.g. NBR, HNBR, EPDM, fluororubber), while the lining, which is permanently bonded to the elastomer, provides protection against aggressive fluids.
