The objective of the Aggie Enrichment Camps at North Carolina A&T State University is to provide enrichment activities and promote interdisciplinary learning experiences for elementary, middle and high school students throughout the summer. Parents and campers have the opportunity to choose from many programs and attend one or several camps. The Aggie Enrichment Camps is a full-day program that starts June 20 through August 5, Camp hours are 8:00am 5:00pm. The cost of each camp is $175 per including lunch. Our Objective: - Create excitement, and dispel negative misconceptions, about STEM. - Connect STEM to learners own interests and experiences. - Offer hands-on exposure to STEM content. - Demonstrate the relevance of STEM by connecting it to real-world problems and realworld work. - Create excitement about career opportunities that require a strong STEM background. Students will be engaged in several activities for the week that involves hands-on projects, a field trip, guest speakers and campus tours. Our areas of topics for this year includes; Computer Systems Technology (Coding, Operating Systems, Raspberry Pi, and other devices) Graphic Design (Autocad, Sketchup, Photoshop, Illustrator, & Fireworks) This is a Day Camp (8am 5pm) that is non-residential. Space is limited; therefore, any forms and/or deposits received after deadline dates will be considered by date priority and availability. All forms and final payments should be received by deadline dates. Camp Hours: 8am 5pm Lunch and Snacks are Included. Refund Policy - If ESMT Camp must cancel a camp - 100% refund - Withdrawals up to 2 weeks before the start of the program full refund, less $25 administrative fee - Withdrawals within 2 weeks before the start of the program no refund

3 - Switching between ESMT camp weeks is allowed based on availability Refund requests must be made in writing to Pat White by the mentioned deadlines to be granted. Requests after this time will ONLY be considered in extreme circumstances such as accident or death in the family or illness with doctor s note stating that the youth cannot participate. Day Summer Camp is for middle-school girls who are interested in technology and engineering careers. STEM ACTIVATED (Ask, Critically-think, Test, Innovate, Verify, Analyze, Team- Up, Explain and Document) camp activities will equip campers with the 21 st century skills necessary to successfully create new structures like skyscrapers and improve existing technologies like make solar panels more efficient. STEM ACTIVATED campers will have fun with hands-on activities such as finding points

4 in space, building newspaper/ popsicle towers, using the Sketchup software for graphic design and delivering public presentations. These exciting experiences will inspire a lifetime of learning and enhance campers desire to make our world a better place. Highlights will include a field trip to the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro - the first LEED platinum (green) hotel in the United States. Scholarships are available to qualifying middle-school girls. Program Cost: No Cost (Sponsored by American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) Program Description: This is a week-long residential program designed to provide ethnic minority high school students with early exposure to career opportunities in accounting, finance and other business-related fields. ACAP provides hands-on learning experiences enhanced with a company tour. A series of classes will introduce students to business curricula, business experiences and tips for success from professional business leaders. Participants will be engaged in the area of technology, and math projects that drive technology. Students will be immersed in technology laboratories with Application

(Preparation of Underclassmen for Science and Healthcare) program is to give participants an introductory mindson and hands on experience in a variety of science based subjects. This is a two week day camp designed for rising 9th grade students who are interested in pursuing health careers, math and science. The camp will focus on introducing students to various health careers in a higher education setting while making learning fun and enjoyable. The students will participate in classes to reinforce their science and math skills at the Department of Chemistry at North Carolina A&T State University. The faculty will also provide an overview of Chemistry and its rich history. The students will have meals, classes, mentoring and activities on campus to keep them engaged all day from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be a few field trips during the week that are sure to engage the students in hands on activities. N.C. A&T faculty involved in PUSH are: Dr. Ginger Redd (Department of Chemistry) and Dr. Tanya Pinder (Department of Chemistry). Program Cost: N/A Website: Program Description: The Summer High School Transportation (STI) is a unique concept that creates an awareness of the attractive career choices and opportunities existing within the transportation industry. The STI commuter program is headquartered at the Transportation Institute of the School of Business and Economics. The Institute provides high school students with opportunities to interact with transportation professionals and to discuss theory and practice in a classroom setting and on weekly field trips. Each participant receives a weekly stipend and a college-level course, tuition free. Participants will be selected for the STI based on their academic achievement, expression of interest in transportation as a possible career choice and written recommendations from the student s high school counselor and at least one teacher. Through hands on activities, students will design and develop electronic documents, formulas, graphs, presentations, and models using computer applications such as Google Sketch Up, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point. The camp will also include a field trip to a LEED certified 'green' building and a competition/awards program to recognize students for outstanding computer skills, innovation, teamwork, and ethical leadership. Young Scholars Revolutionizing Metallic Biomaterials Summer 2016 (NSF ERC-RMB YS Summer 2016) Grades: rising juniors and seniors Program Date: June 27 th to August 5 th (6 weeks) Program Director: Vernal G. During the summer, the Young Scholars Program operates concurrently with the center s REU and RET programs. In a paid mentored-research experience, these Young Scholars, high school students (11 th and 12 th graders), have access to research facilities. The participants are expected to fully attend the activities of the program. The students conduct engineering research under the guidance of a faculty mentor and graduate students in teams, primarily with teachers and undergraduate students. The scholars produce weekly reflections and biweekly newsletters that highlight participants and program activities. They involve themselves in weekly briefings to provide continuous feedback to the program coordinator. The participants undergo safety training as well as pre- and post-program assessments. They attend professional development seminars, workshops and related field trips.

11 Other deliverables include individual oral presentations, 8-minute summaries of their summer research followed by question and answer periods. Participants work with their research teams to produce research posters that compete for awards.
