1 QENDRA KOSOVARE PËR REHABILITIMIN E TË MBIJETUARVE TË TORTURËS THE KOSOVA REHABILITATION CENTRE FOR TORTURE VICTIMS To: International Rehabilitation Centre of Torture Victims (IRCT) From: The Kosova Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims (KRCT) Subject: Report on activities of 26 th June United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture The Kosova Rehabilitation Centre of Torture Victims (KRCT) in occasion of 26 th June United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, had one week campaign named HEAR MY VOICE, from 24 th till 28 th of June The campaign was supported by the Ministry of European Integrations. Main activities are complied as below: Having in mind main objective to raise awareness of the population, in general, and decisionmaking bodies, in particular, for the rights of women survivors of sexual violence and torture during the war in Kosovo, the KRCT has done filming of the short documentary named HEAR MY VOICE. The documentary showed dreadful true story of one of the raped survivor. The issue was elaborated by public personalities that have good knowledge about this issue and their consequences as serious war crimes, such as professor from War Crimes Institute, Human Rights Activist and Civil Society Activist, Minister of European Integrations, Mufti of Islamic Community of Kosova, Executive Director of the KRCT. All speakers have influence and popularity amongst kosovars. The documentary was screened on the cinema and had high attendance of wide broad range of the attendees, from the governmental bodies, civil society activists, international organizations representatives, women survivors, artists and others. The documentary will be soon shown on National and Local TV stations. During last week of June, awareness raising clip produced by KRCT, was shown on three main TV stations: Radio-Television of Kosova, Radio Television 21 and Radio-Television Kohavision. The clip has called on population to support victims of rape that even now, after 14 years of war, are feeling abandoned instead of being treated as heroines of war. The clip was also posted and shared on official web page and facebook page of KRCT, within one day it had more than 7000 views! 2 On 26 June, Head of the KRCT Rehabilitation Unit, Mrs. Sebahate Pacolli Krasniqi was interviewed by Radio-Television of Kosova (RTK). She has spoken about importance of this day and explained the activities of KRCT have to mark the day of 26 June KRCT has published leaflets, posters, bags and T-shirt as part of the awareness campaign. Leaflets and posters were distributed in most affected areas and Pristina city center. Bags and T- shirts with the Logo of the campaign Hear my voice were also distributed among the attendees at the cinema screening of documentary. They will be given to our NGO partners for distribution in areas mostly affected during war to support further survivors of sexual violence and torture.
