1 Annex 8 SDG Indicator Mapping 1. Annex 8 responds to Executive Board decision below, regarding the refinement of indicators and targets of the Strategic Plan Integrated Results and Resources Framework (IRRF) to be consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals, where appropriate. It provides a mapping of the existing impact and outcome indicators in the Strategic Plan IRRF to the SDG Indicator Framework, and proposes adjustments and additions to be incorporated for the remainder of the Strategic Plan period. Decision # 2014/11 Relevant paragraphs 10. Requests UNDP to ensure that any relevant indicators and targets of the integrated results and resources framework are made consistent with the sustainable development goals in the context of the post-2015 development agenda, when appropriate; 2. As elaborated in Annex VII, UNDP s support to SDG implementation will be in the context of the common approach adopted by the UN Development Group (UNDG), namely MAPS: Mainstreaming, Acceleration, and Policy Support. While respecting the integrity and indivisibility of the 2030 Agenda, UNDP s particular contributions through MAPS will leverage its policy and programming expertise in specific areas that have been developed over last 50 years of experience. These include: eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities, promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, addressing the environment, climate and disaster resilience, social determinants of health, and very importantly, working harder than ever for women s and girls empowerment. Mapping of UNDP Strategic Plan IRRF impact and outcome indicators to the SDG Indicator Framework 3. Table 1 overleaf shows the degree of of impact and outcome indicators monitored in UNDP s Strategic Plan IRRF with the SDG Indicator Framework. Of the 29 impact and outcome indicators in the Strategic Plan IRRF, the vast majority match or are already closely an SDG indicator and/or SDG, reflecting the strong relevance of UNDP s work to the 2030 Agenda. a. 6 out of 29 impact or outcome indicators (21%) match to an SDG indicator. b. 11 out of 29 impact or outcome indicators (38%) relate are closely an SDG indicator. c. 12 out of 29 impact or outcome indicators (41%) are not matching to an SDG indicator, with the SDG. 2 Outcome Outcome Outcome All Outcomes and Impact for enhanced of UNDP Strategic Plan IRRF impact and outcome indicators to the SDG Indicator Framework 4. Table 2 provides a detailed mapping of each impact and outcome indicator monitored in UNDP s Strategic Plan IRRF against the SDG Indicator Framework. It identifies the most relevant SDG indicators corresponding to existing IRRF indicators, and in addition identifies a few additional SDG indicators that are exceptionally relevant to measuring UNDP s Strategic Plan, though they are not currently captured by any existing IRRF indicator. The table provides recommendations for adjustments or additions to be made to the IRRF for the remainder of the Strategic Plan period, i.e. to be included in IRRF monitoring for 2016 and 2017, where these are needed to reflect the between UNDP s Strategic Plan and the SDGs. 5. The recommended selection of SDG indicators to be added to the IRRF takes into account latest indications of data availability for monitoring the proposed SDG indicators. However, UNDP will take into consideration the final classification of data availability for each adopted SDG indicator when finalizing the incorporation of SDG indicators to the IRRF. Subject to data availability, UNDP will begin monitoring on these indicators as part of its Strategic Plan IRRF in the Administrator s annual report In addition, UNDP will introduce a new output-level indicator under Output 7.8 to measure UNDP s contribution to the nationalization and implementation of the 2030 Agenda using the Mainstreaming, Acceleration and Policy Support (MAPS) approach. A methodology will be developed in 2016, and baselines, milestones and targets will be included in the Administrator s annual report
