However, opening doors to the eleents allows war air to be released, resulting in low cofort and poor energy efficiency. Invisidor air curtains prevent conditioned air escaping outside, whilst conditioning incoing air to a cofortable teperature. A coplete range of odels ensures effectiveness in creating a cofortable cliate depending on different factors, including door size, the building and its location. Invisidor CITY is available in three perforance odels, including the latest CITY PowerPlus for higher entrance doors, and a CB variant for use with condensing boilers. 3 Biddle Patented Airflow Technology Lainar Airflow Rectifier Pressure Chaber One of the ain functions of an air curtain is to condition outdoor air as it enters the building. For this to be achieved the jet ust cover the full width of the entrance, so that it cannot be bypassed by incoing air. However, ensuring the jet reaches the floor level is ore difficult, with turbulence at the jet outlet being a critical factor. Along with the TNO wind tunnel facility at Apeldoorn in the Netherlands, Biddle have successfully developed a patented rectifier, which iniises turbulence in the discharge airstrea. With reduced turbulence, induction of the surrounding air is also reduced, which in turn, increases the jet throw by 0-40% of an equal volue/velocity unit. The pressure chaber behind the rectifier evenly distributes the air strea across the whole width of the unit. The result is a deeply penetrating, lainar airstrea, reducing energy consuption whilst increasing cofort levels. Biddle Energy Efficiency By using their patented rectifier in the Invisidor CITY range, Biddle have reduced the aount of air that escapes fro the jet outlet. This saves a large aount of energy, in coparison to other air curtains. Measureents have shown that with the Invisidor patented rectifier, up to 94% of the heat input to the air curtain can be transferred to the entrance area and subsequently contributes to overall roo heating, an iportant factor when considering current building energy costs. 4 Coputational Fluid Dynaics An air curtain ounted in a high street store functions very differently fro the sae unit at a shopping centre or hyperarket entrance. By looking at how the air curtain reacted with different buildings rather than considering the unit alone, Biddle was able to design an effective and efficient product. Biddle understands that various aspects of the air curtain design contribute to its effectiveness and efficiency in different ways. Along with Warwick University, Biddle developed a Coputational Fluid Dynaics (CFD) odel. By using this odel, with inforation on particular building properties and weather conditions, siulation can be perfored for alost any building. The Biddle CFD odel has been used to aid product selection and also to copare different proposed air curtain solutions. It provides Biddle s custoers with a unique understanding of the air curtain, as well as estiating energy savings and calculating the payback tie on investent. 5 Control Options With quick project turn-around ties, any reduction in installation tie is greatly beneficial. Biddle therefore supply a standard controls package which is siply connected between the unit and controller via a low voltage plug-in cable. Electronic touchpad controllers provide localised on/off, and three-speed control as well as two heat settings on electric units. Each controller can control up to ten units, wired as aster/slave. In all cases the Invisidor has volt free contacts for input of reote switching devices, naely, Tiers Therostats Door switches BMS etc Alternatively, and if the controller is not preferred, the Invisidor range can be configured for reote operation by a Building Manageent Syste (BMS). If you have particular requireents please contact the Biddle sales office for detailed advice. Flexible Suspension Syste Fast and siple ounting brackets are supplied with each unit. They provide lateral adjustent so each unit can be accurately ounted in the desired position. For wall ounting purposes, brackets are available. 11 Specifications Casing Casings are anufactured fro zinc coated steel, extra strengthened to iniise vibration. All odels have inspection/access panels on the underside of the unit. Unit casings are finished in White (RAL 9010). The free hanging odel is supplied with sectional inlet grilles that have a grey/white finish. Other RAL colours are available on request. Grilles All units are supplied with a patented rectifier grille for the discharge air. Inlet grilles have filters fitted directly behind the grille blades for ease of aintenance. All rectifiers and grilles have an Aluiniu finish. Motor / Fan Assebly Two or ore, dual inlet, vibration-free centrifugal fans, each driven by a suspended rotor otor. The fan casing and ipeller are ade fro zinc coated steel. The otor is anufactured according to EN , protection class IP44 (CITY) or IP54 (CITYPlus and PowerPlus), and insulation class F. All otors are fitted with theral overload protection. LPHW Heating Coil The heating coil coprises Copper tubes with Aluiniu fins. The water connections are G1" feale thread. Test pressure is 0bars and the operating pressure is 16bars ax. at 120 C. Electric Heating Coil The electric heating coil has Aluiniu fins and is controlled by the electronic control board. The eleents are fitted with high teperature cut-out therostats to prevent overheating. In addition when the unit is switched off, the fans will continue to rotate until the eleents have cooled sufficiently. Control and Operation The touchpad controller has three buttons for controlling the fan speed, as well as anual control for on/off. Electrically heated units have two additional buttons for 1st and 2nd stage heating control. The controller is connected to the air curtain with a low voltage cable, which has RJ11 plugs fitted. This type of cable is also used to inter-connect ultiple units. Enable inputs fro a roo therostat, BMS or door switch can be connected directly to the potential free contacts on top of each unit.
