3 1 Prerequisites 1.1 Hardware Requirements Processor: Memory: Disk Space: Display: Minimum: 1.4GHz 64-bit processor Recommended: 2GHz or faster Minimum: 2GB RAM Recommended: 4GB RAM or greater Minimum: 40GB Recommended: 60GB or greater Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution monitor 1.2 Software Requirements The following Operating Systems are supported on the Application Server used for TechScan: Windows Server 2008 x64 Standard, Enterprise, DataCenter Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Standard, Enterprise, DataCenter Windows Server 2012 Standard, DataCenter The TechScan application does not require additional system configuration. 1.3 Infrastructure Requirements The TechScan application does not have any Network Infrastructure requirements. 1.4 Client Side Requirements To access the TechScan application, one of the following browsers is required: Internet Explorer 9.0 or later Google Chrome Mozilla Firefox Page 3 of 12

4 2 Deployment Overview 2.1 Deployment Diagram 2.2 Application Location The TechScan application may be installed in a custom folder, specified in the Setup Wizard. During installation, the following components will be installed in this root folder, each in its own folder: Java Tomcat MySQL Further, Tomcat installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\TechScan\Tomcat) will be referred to as $TOMCAT_HOME. TechScan is deployed as a ROOT Tomcat application in folder $TOMCAT_HOME\webapps\ROOT Page 4 of 12

5 3 TechScan Installation To install TechScan, administrative privileges on the destination server are required. 1. Start the TechScan installer (TechScan.exe). 2. On the Welcome window, click Next to continue setup. Page 5 of 12

6 3. On the Select Installation Folder window, click Browse to select the installation folder. Click Next to continue. 4. On the Prerequisites window, select the components to be installed. Click Next to continue. Page 6 of 12

7 5. On the MySQL Database Properties window, set required parameters and click Next to continue. Note: The installer will create the database and user for the TechScan application. Database character set is utf8 and collation utf8_general_ci. Parameter Name ROOT Password Database Name User Name Password Description MySQL Server root password that is created Database to be used by the TechScan application. This database will be created by the installer during setup. The Database character set is utf8 and collation utf8_general_ci. Account name used by the TechScan application to log into the Database Server. This user will be created by the installer during setup. 8 6. On the Ready to Install window, Click Install to start the TechScan installation process. 7. The TechScan application is now installed. Click Finish to exit the Setup Wizard. Page 8 of 12

9 8. To run the TechScan web application, in the browser open the following URL: If installed successfully, the home page is displayed. Page 9 of 12

10 4 TechScan Maintenance The TechScan application is configured during installation by the Setup Wizard, however, some settings may require adjustment (e.g., updating the domain password, changing the mail server name, etc.). This chapter describes the configuration files used by the TechScan application and the settings included. 11 5 TechScan Upgrade Currently the TechScan application does not support automated upgrades through the Setup Wizard. Page 11 of 12

12 6 TechScan Uninstall To uninstall the TechScan application, administrative privileges are required. 1. Open the Control Panel. Select Program and Features. 2. Right click on TechScan and select Uninstall. 3. In the opened dialog box, click Yes to confirm TechScan uninstall. Page 12 of 12
