1 OAKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE Michigan Transfer Agreement A transfer option you can count on! What is the Michigan Transfer Agreement? The Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) facilitates the transfer of general education requirements from Oakland Community College (or any other Michigan community college) to all other public colleges and universities in Michigan and many private colleges in the state as well Who can take advantage of the MTA? Any new or returning student enrolling at a community college may pursue the MTA endorsement to satisfy 30 general education credits toward a bachelor s degree Whether you have decided on a major or not, if transferring to another Michigan college or university is part of your future education plans, then the MTA will fit very nicely into those plans What if I have been following the MACRAO Transfer Agreement? Students who began pursuing the MACRAO Stamp (which the MTA endorsement replaced in the Fall 2014 Semester) may continue pursuing it until the end of the Summer 2019 Semester or until three years of non-attendance at OCC has occurred (whichever occurs first) They may also pursue the MTA endorsement and the MACRAO Stamp at the same time How does the MTA work? Students pursuing the MTA must complete 30 credits of core college coursework The credits earned for these courses can be transferred to a participating four-year college or university to complete bachelor s degree requirements there Students can also use these credits toward an associate degree at OCC The advantage to students is that using MTA to maximize their transfer options can reduce the cost of their college education considerably What courses are required for the MTA? Specific courses to meet each category are outlined in the Catalog and on the OCC website: English Composition: 1 course Communications: 1 course Mathematics: 1 course Social Sciences: 2 courses Fine Arts/Humanities: 2 courses Natural Sciences: 2 courses (1 must include a lab component) How do I get started? Meet with an OCC counselor as soon as possible! They will be able to help you decide if the MTA is right for you and will help you choose the right courses to meet your individual needs Auburn Hills Counseling: (248) Highland Lakes Counseling: (248) Orchard Ridge Counseling: (248) Royal Oak Counseling: (248) Southfield Counseling: (248) wwwoaklandccedu /15
