10 How Does it Work? It is a renewable energy source The use of the wind to produce electricity Wind energy is the fastest growing energy source on earth The rate at which technology is improving is making wind power more and more appealing Most effective in areas that receive a decent amount of wind 10
11 Wind Turbine Types According to the power According to the rotation axis Micro WT (0-3kW) Small WT (3-30kW) Medium WT Megawatt WT Horizontal axis WT Vertical axis WT Inclined axis WT E Wind Turbine Generators M DC Generator Synchronous generator Induction generator F rotor winding SG permanent magnet SG squirrel cage IG rotor winding IG What is Solar Power? A renewable energy source The conversion of solar power from the sun into heat or electricity Uses solar panels There are three main methods of obtaining solar power Best suited for areas where there is low cloud cover that will block out the sunlight 11
12 How Does it Work? Photovoltaic cells Consists of semi-conductors As light hits the surface, energy is produced Solar Thermal Electricity A mirror is used to reflect the sunlight to a central receiver A fluid is circulated that drives a generator The generator produces electricity Solar Thermal Heater Solar panels on roof absorbs sunlight Sunlight is converted into energy that heats the house GENERAL ILLUMINATION CONTROL STRATEGIES LABORATORY MEASUREMENT OF CRITICAL POINTS Time-based control strategy Regional control strategy Continuous light control strategy 12

22 When the curves obtained from simulation results of the hybrid power generation system modeling study are examined, it has been determined that there is not a significant difference in electrical and mechanical magnitudes in parallel to the dynamic behavior of the installed hybrid power generation system. Upon comparison of the real system data to the data obtained from the simulation study, it has been determined that accuracy analysis of the simulation study related to the hybrid power generation system is very good. Laboratory methods for illuminating the case of manual control kwh annual consumption value, while the case of automatic control methods annual consumption value kwh respectively. This value shows us that the intended use of automatic load control system, providing energy savings on an annual basis is kwh. 22
