Argentina, a Surprising Country A few years ago I visited Argentina, a country that is full of surprises. Firstly, it is so big! It is 3.8 million square kilometers and 3,800 kilometers long. Consequently, it has many different things to see and the climate varies from north to south. But remember, because it is in the southern hemisphere, summer and winter are opposite to us who live in the northern hemisphere. Argentina is one of many countries in Latin America where people speak Spanish. The first people to arrive from Spain were conquerors who colonized these countries. They thought Argentina had a big mountain of silver. The country s name comes from argentum, which is Latin for silver. There isn t time to see much of Argentina on a short trip. In spite of this, I visited several interesting places. I started in Buenos Aires, the capital city, where I saw some exciting tango dancing. Then I went to see the famous Iguazu Falls, which is in a national park in the north. It features many spectacular waterfalls that are up to 80 meters high. I only saw a little of the country so I would like to go back one day. In fact, next time, I am going to go whale watching in the Atlantic Ocean, ride horses on a big cattle ranch, visit the biggest glacier in the world and see the highest mountain in the western hemisphere!
